ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE AND ACTIVITIES:

INITIAL ASSESSMENT :
Find out where students are when it comes to vocabulary

FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT:
Observations
Bell ringers
Discussion
Think/pair/share

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT:
Vocab test?
Performance task

FINAL PERFORMANCE TASK:

Performance task will be to create a presentation and present findings of their technology
to the class

LEARNING PLAN & ACTIVITIES:

DAY 1
Bell Ringer: What are some new technologies you have seen come out recently? (3mins)

Introduce students to new technology with a youtube video showcasing some of the
futuristic technologies (7 Mins)

Go over vocabulary words (10 mins)

Think/Pair/Share: (20 mins)

If you could create a piece of technology today, what would it do and why would you create
it? Consider different fields such as medical, education, personal, etc.

Draw a picture of your future technology

Share with your neighbor

DAY 2
Bell Ringer: What is your favorite piece of technology and why? (3 mins)

Have students share with the class

Laptops (6 mins) *Maybe practice take out and put up of laptops

Introduce students to the research process (ask the English teachers where they should be
at when it comes to researching online for this) (10 mins)

Show them how to use search terms (20 mins)

Using quotes in their search
What is a reliable source
What is an unreliable source
Hyphen (-) to exclude words
Keep it simple
Slowly add words
Important words only

Try out some of these on the computer (10 mins)

Explain good vs. bad sources: the use of .gov, .org, .edu, etc.
Wikipedia as a guide, not a source

Any leftover time use to do typing tests

Computer clean up
DAY 3
Bell ringer: What is a piece of technology you thought you would use a lot but you dont? (3
mins)

Hand out their assignment they will be researching and presenting

Questions to answer:
How does it work? What is it exactly?
What were some of its predecessors (what came before it)? How did it evolve?
What are some of its features? (at least 4)
What do people use it for?
Who invented it? When did/will it come out?
Why is it important?
