To: Full-time NTU/ NIE-matriculated graduate students & graduate students on Graduate
Research Officer (GRO) Scheme,
Excluding:-
Existing residents of Graduate Halls 1 & 2, Crescent Hall & Pioneer Hall, Binjai Hall,
Tanjong Hall & Banyan Hall who are:-
(i) Nanyang President Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) holders,
(ii) Renaissance Engineering Programme (REP) scholars,
(iii) graduating students and;
(iv) residents whose current leases end beyond 02 June 2017.
Lease period offered shall be from 17 July 2017 (tentative) to 31 May 2018 (tentative). Strictly no
extension of leases, unless approved by HAS, on case-by-case basis.
Graduate students on GRO scheme are to contact us at has-pg@ntu.edu.sg with regard to their
housing applications.
Students who are assured of a place at graduate housing under NTU Graduate Student Councils
recommendation for Semester 1 AY2017/18 must still submit applications online by the stipulated
closing date and time as stated above. Leases to be offered/ extended will end by 31 May 2018.
Application for graduate housing is not processed on a first-come, first-served basis. You are to note
the 1630 hrs closing time on 14 June 2017 (Fri). Late applications will not be accepted. There
will be no recourse if you miss this application period.
If the number of successful applicants who applied for specific room type exceeds the supply, you
will be assigned to a room type different from your choice.
(i) The Hall rental fees listed below are for graduate housing on per-person-per-month
basis, effective from 1 August 2017.The rental fees are subject to revisions in
subsequent years to manage the operational costs of running, maintaining and
upgrading the Halls, but are moderated to minimise the financial strain on students.
To use the air-conditioner in rooms, residents will have to purchase a zero-value Pre-
Paid Card (PPC) from the Admin Office. The PPC has to be topped up with value at any
top-up kiosks located conveniently in/near the Halls.

(iii) Major installation works are currently ongoing at Graduate Hall 1 rooms and common
areas and will continue after check-in.
Rectification works will also still be ongoing at Nanyang Crescent Halls after check-in.
Applicants applying for rooms at these Halls are to note that noise and dust are to be
expected, as with any construction works. Contractors accompanied by Admin Office
staff might require access to your rooms/ apartments for the purpose of these works. We
seek your kind understanding and patience in putting up with the inconveniences.
(iv) Each apartment at Binjai, Tanjong and Banyan Halls comprises of two or three
bedrooms one master en suite single room and one single room, or one master en
suite double room and two single rooms, to house two or four graduate students of the
same gender.
Graduate students usually possess past working experiences, received prior training in
one or more academic disciplines, or have dealt with difficult life choices. They have
unique perspectives and can introduce much diversity in residential life in the University
through participating in Hall activities and interactions with other residents. Graduate
students who apply to live in these residential Halls are thus regarded and expected to
be active members of the community with undergraduates as the majority.
(v) Admission to Hall and room is by balloting. Priority in allocation is given to incoming July
2017 intake of graduate students on research programmes who have not domiciled in
Singapore before.
(vi) Graduate students with family may write to us at has-pg@ntu.edu.sg for more
information on apartments for families.
(vii) Results of allocation are scheduled to be released progressively from 3 July 2017
onwards. Unsuccessful applicants shall be automatically placed on the waiting list and
be offered rooms as and when vacancies arise.
(viii) Incomplete applications submitted will be rejected. Applicants applying for married
couples rooms are to submit an official English-translated marriage certificate in PDF
format with their housing applications. The Chief Housing & Auxiliary Services Officer
has the right to reject application or remove hall tenancy should information provided by
the applicant be found incorrect or there is misrepresentation of information.
