Some of the groups will have references from the textbook. Other groups will have to research
information using the internet or library books. All groups are expected to research the information.
Group 1
Fossil Record. Define a fossil. Look at fossils and how the fossil record supports the theory of
evolution. Pearson Science 4 p84.
Group 2
Geographical distribution, what does that mean? How has the geographical distribution of
organisms been affected the theory of evolution? How does this support the Theory of Evolution?
Group 3
Define species
DNA and Biochemistry. Define this. Demonstrate how this supports the theory of Evolution.
Group 4
Comparative Anatomy. What does this mean? Include the pentadactyl limb and embryology.
Show diagrams and activities to show the similarities. How does comparative anatomy support the
theory of evolution.
Pearson Science 4 p 91
Group 5
Outline and apply the theory of evolution by natural selection including the roles of variation,
isolation, selection and reproduction.
Research the contribution to evolutionary thought by Charles Darwin. Read the first paragraph of
Chapter 4 of his book Origin of the Species. Clarify his definition of Natural Selection.
Include information when his book the Origin of the Species was first published.
Group 7

on how natural selection works. Could include a practical or a digital game.
Group 8
Include the Law of Superposition and what this means when dating fossils. What are Index fossils?
Edmodo
Group 9
Describe the relationship between genetic characteristics and survival and reproductive rates. Give
examples how reproduction rates can be directly linked to the genetic characteristics.
Group 10
How a theory is different to a Law and why we call this the theory of Evolution.
