CCP Sleep Campaign

Written by Jacque Larson

Introduction:
The following is a social media campaign plan for CCP that promotes the importance of
sleep to GU students. Included is a timeline for the campaign, content for social media posts on
Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, a Morning Mail announcement, a poster, and a website
serving as the central hub of information for the campaign.
The title of the campaign is But first, sleep. The three main topics of focus for the
campaign are Things to Know, Sleep Deprivation, and Healthy Sleep Habits. The content
for the campaign is centralized on a website created specifically for the campaign
(www.gusleep.weebly.com) and additional materials are included to promote the importance of
sleep to GU students.
The target audience is the Gonzaga student body. Specifically, First Year students to help
them begin forming healthy sleep habits at the beginning of their college careers. Other main
audiences to pay attention to are students who study late in Foley Library and the John J.
Hemmingson Center.
Materials needed for this campaign: Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator),
printing services, any university regulations for creating a website for a department,
staples/stapler for hanging posters, contact information for printing services and poster and
electronic advertising services in the John J. Hemmingson Center, and resources for reaching out
to faculty and staff.

students, faculty, and staff about their experiences with sleep in college
o Faculty and staff from university offices and academic departments could be
asked to be guest blog writers for the week of Oct. 16 Oct. 20

Additional thoughts and ideas:

Create a Pinterest account to collect relevant resources and inspiration to share with
students and to reference in the future
Consider working with Computer Science majors who may be creating apps for a course
o Create an app that helps students track their sleep
o App will reward students daily, weekly, and monthly for good sleeping habits
o App also gives facts and tips about sleep
o The inspiration for this idea comes from an app called Plant Nanny
Provide RAs with a list of facts about the importance of sleep and potential ideas for
designing a bulletin board about sleep for the month of October
Create a video interviewing GU students about their sleep habits and sleep myths
At the Health Hut hand out sleep masks with facts and tips about sleep taped to them
Conduct a survey for GU students asking about typical sleep habits, reasons for not
getting sleep, and what students know about sleep and its benefits
