Bismillahirahmannirahim, Assalamualaikum wtb.

Your excellences the committee, the honourable judges, dear friends who participate

and my loving brothers and sisters.

My dear brothers and sisters, before I begin, I praise the Almighty Allah, who created

the heavens and earth. Peace and salutation be upon our Prophet Muhammad

who has told us the cardinal principle of the unity of Allah.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am very pleasure to stand here in front of honourable audience in this

precious time to deliver my speech entitled Priorities of following the way of

Muhammad. The Holy Prophets Muhammad PBUH, his name is higher than the

skies, more pure than the purest of white. A perfect human being ever sent to the

mankind by Allah. He exhibited perfectness in all aspects of the life. In the Holy

Quran the only verse that refers literally to the status of Prophet Muhammad as a

role model is as follows:

Which means: "Verily in the messenger of Allah you have a good example for him

who looks unto Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much."

(Surah Al-Ahzab verse 21)

The Arabic word uswa in the original verse means example or model that

should be obeyed and followed. In terms of Islamic faith, uswa, that is to say being

an example or a role model, is an attribute that is found in those who possess

goodness, beauty and righteousness. This verse shows the importance of Prophet
Muhammads sunnah in the lives of Muslims. As a matter of fact, the Quran clearly

states that Prophet Muhammad has a superior character and demonstrates an

exemplary life style. His life is one that was dominated by a superior morality, good

habits, noble and gentle feelings and superior skills.

Ladies and gentlemen,

My first argument is, the Quran clearly states that Prophet Muhammad has a

superior character and demonstrates an exemplary life style. If one accepts that

Islam is the final and perfect religion, then it would be consistent to consider the life

of Prophet Muhammad as an example and guide for the Muslim community. For that

reason, the life style and personality of Prophet Muhammad, demonstrated during

his prophethood of 23 years, includes very significant provisions and principles for

the religious, political, social and moral life of Muslim communities as a whole. One

of the lessons he taught was that we should live among others like flowers, and not

like thorns, without giving trouble to anybody. Allah also told us about the excellence

of the prophets character in the following verse:

Which mean;

And Verily. for you (Muhammad) are on an exalted (standard of) character ( Surah

Al-Qalam verse 4).

Ladies and gentlemen,

My second evidence is Prophet Muhammad SAW had mission to bring

people abreast of the reality that all others blood are sisters and brothers.

Hence a proper relationship will be established between all human beings only if

they regard one another as sisters and brothers although inhabiting different regions

of the world, and seemingly different from one another as regards their colour,

language, culture and others. Only then will proper feelings of love and respect

prevail throughout the world.

According to a tradition recorded in the Sahih of Imam Muslim, when the

Prophets opponents greatly increased their persecution, his Companions asked him

to curse them. At this the Prophet replied, I have not been sent to lay a curse upon

men but to be a blessing to them. His opponents continued to treat him and his

Companions unjustly and cruelly, but he always prayed for them. The Prophet made

it clear that one who would only return love for love was on a lower ethical plane. We

should never think that we treat people well only if they treat us well. We rather be

accustomed to being good to those who are not good to us and to not wronging

those who harm us.

Ladies and gentlemen,

My third point is, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) committed no mistakes that

would harm the conveyance of the Quran and this is proven in the Holy Quran

and is agreed upon by Muslim community. No Muslim doubts the fact that Prophet

Muhammad was free from faults in the conveyance of the Islamic law and that his

conveyance was dependent on the revelation imparted unto him by Allah. It is

understood from the verses of the Quran and the qualities granted to the Prophet by

Allah that the revelations imparted to him do not only consist of the Holy Quran.

The Prophet Muhammad is introduced in the Quran which means: [And We

have not sent you forth but as a mercy to mankind.] (Surah Al-Anbiyaa verse 107)

This shows that his distinctive quality was that he was a blessing incarnate in word

and deed. It is clear that the revelations were all conveyed accurately to the Muslims,

and that those types of sunnah that are attributed as being free of faults in the Quran

are valid guides and examples that are relevant at all times.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Before ending this speech, let me conclude the essential point of my speech entitled

The priorities of following the way of Muhammad. Firstly, Prophet Muhammad has

a superior character and demonstrates an exemplary life style. Secondly,

Prophet Muhammad SAW had mission to bring people abreast of the reality

that all others blood are sisters and brothers. No one was more careful to avoid

sin than him. It was such conduct which gained the Prophet universal respect. Last

but not least, Prophet Muhammad committed no mistakes that would harm the

conveyance of the Quran. No one was more careful to avoid sin than him. It was

such conduct which gained the Prophet universal respect.

Lastly, Allah sent us Prophet Muhammad saw for a reason. He was a human being

who had human needs and emotions and thus we could relate to him knowing that

he shared all the fallibilities of being human.

The right one is merely from Allah. All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the universe.

Thank you very much.
