Abstract :
T he functionalist views of sty listics constitute one of the main schools in sty listic theories , which emphasize that the
formation of sty le is related to the function the speaker/ w riter intends to achieve in using the language .T his article introduces the
Prague School' s viewpoints concerning factors , differentiation , standard lang uage and the application of relevant principles , the
systemic_functionalist Halliday ' s elaboration about prominence and foreg rounding , tex t and style , etc .A t different stages , and the
latest report of Bakhtin' s theories of speech genre and personal style , especially the inherent and universal dialogicality .
