1 INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS

3 Section 1. Membership. Any Geodetic Engineer shall be inducted
4 and/or accepted as a regular GEP Caraga member, as stated in
5 Section 2, Article II on Membership of the New By-Laws of the
6 Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, after having presented
7 or possessed the following basic requirements:
8
9 a) Good moral character,
10
11 b) Written application on the form prescribed for that
12 purpose and accompanied by the first years payment of
13 dues,
14
15 c) Endorsement from local Chapter where his principal office
16 or residence is located, (whenever applicable)
17
18 d) Personal/professional profile, with:
19 1. Certification from the Barangay that his principal
20 office is located in the said barangay.
21 2. Certification from his Chief of Office if he is
22 employed in the government.
23
24 The Local Chapter may impose such other necessary
25 requirements in addition to those provided above.

27 Section 2. Payment of Dues. The membership dues shall be paid
28 annually on or before the annual Regional Convention, but in
29 no case later than June 31.

31 Whenever dues dates are chosen, the Regional Division must
32 take into account the payment of the National Dues set by the
33 National Board of Governors.

35 Section 3. Amount. The annual due for an individual member is
36 Five Hundred (P500.00) Philippine Pesos only.

38 Section 4. Collection of dues in trust. All payments made by
39 individual members for National dues shall be held in trust
40 by the Regional Division and included in the next membership
41 registration and remitted in full to the GEPI National

42 Organization on or before the next annual national
43 convention.

45 Section 5. Non-payment of Dues. Any member who has not paid
46 dues may be temporarily or definitely cease to be a member
47 per Section 4 (C), Article II Membership of the New By-Laws
48 of the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, with the
49 concurrence of the GEP Caraga Board of Directors.

51 Section 6. Acceptance of Membership. All applications,
52 sponsored by his local chapter and endorsed by the Committee
53 on Membership, must be accepted by the majority vote of the
54 GEP Caraga Regional Board of Directors.

56 Section 7. Oath of Regular GEP Member. Inspired by the GEP
57 Pledge, the Official Oath of the individual member shall be
58 as follows:

60 I do solemnly swear that I shall faithfully serve as a
61 member of Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines Caraga
62 Region, and shall do the best of my ability, serve as a
63 living example of this organizations philosophy and
64 beliefs and shall uphold, abide by and enforce the
65 constitution of this organization at all times.

67 Section 8. Member of Good Standing. (Section 4, Article II-
68 Membership, New BY-Laws of the Geodetic Engineers of the
69 Philippines) A member of Good Standing is one who:
70
71 (a) Is a holder of a valid PRC Identification Card, and
72
73 (b) Has attained the required Continuing Professional
74 Education (CPE) credit units but not limited to
75 participation in conventions / conferences and
76 attendance in technical sessions/fora; and
77
78 (c) Has settled all financial obligations such as, but not
79 limited to, annual dues, contributions, GEP survey fees
80 and clearance fees as defined by the organization; and

82 (d) Has not been found guilty of any administrative and
83 judicial charges by authorized entities or courts of
84 law; and

86 (e) Has not been found guilty of any violations of the
87 provisions of the Constitution and By-Laws, Code of
88 Ethics, Code of Geodetic Engineering standards of
89 practice of geodetic engineering, and other existing
90 rules and regulations of the organization.

92 Section 9. Certificate of Good Standing. A member maybe issued a
93 Certificate of Good Standing by the Regional Division
94 concerned upon compliance with the above cited requirements,
95 and based on Section 12 of this Article; copy furnished the
96 Board of Governors.

98 Section 10. Resignation. Any member may terminate association with
99 the organization immediately upon lodging notice of his wish
100 to the Regional President, accompanied by all monies due to
101 the GEP Caraga with no possible refund of dues already paid.

103 Section 11. Suspension, Expulsion and Termination of Membership.
104 (Section 5, Article II-Membership, New BY-Laws of the
105 Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines) Suspension, Expulsion,
106 and Termination of Membership shall be governed by the
107 following:

109 a. The Board of Director after due notice and hearing may
110 suspend a member for violation of any those enumerated
111 under Section 4 by the two-thirds (2/3) votes in a meeting
112 called for that purpose where a quorum is present.
113 However, such order of suspension maybe appealed within
114 fifteen (15) days from receipt thereof to the Board of
115 Governors for review. The decision of the Board of
116 Governors shall be immediately executory:

118 b. The Board of Directors after due notice and hearing may
119 expel a member after conviction of an offense involving
120 moral turpitude, conduct unbecoming and other acts
121 inimical to the organization by two-thirds (2/3) votes in
122 a meeting called for that purpose where a quorum is
123 present. However, such order of expulsion maybe appealed

124 within fifteen (15) days from receipt thereof to the Board
125 of Governors for review. The decision of the Board of
126 Governors shall be immediately executory; and

128 c. The Board of Directors shall terminate a member due to:
129 1. Resignation, death, or revocation of professional
130 license;
131 2. Failure to register with the GEP and pay the
132 membership fee and annual due and other dues
133 authorized by its By-Laws (PRC Board Resolution No.4
134 Series 2003)

137 Any individual member whose dues are in arrears for more than
138 thirty (30) days shall not be entitled to any rights and
139 privileges as stated in the Constitution and By-Laws of the
140 Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines. A member, whose dues
141 are more than ninety (90) days in arrears, after two (2)
142 consecutive notice of collection, shall automatically cease
143 to be a member.

145 Section 12. Renewal. Membership may be renewed, or reinstated by
146 the Board of Directors upon formal application and compliance
147 with all the requirements, to wit:

149 a. The applicant must have been a member of good standing
150 for at least three (3) consecutive years. In case a
151 nominee is a past member as disqualified by Section 5,
152 Article II on Membership, New By-Laws of the Geodetic
153 Engineers of the Philippines, he need to overcome the
154 disqualification before his application will be
155 considered;

157 b. He must have attended the following conventions:
158 1. Annual Regional Conventions
159 2. Annual Mindanao Area Assemblies
160 3. Annual National Conventions

162 In no case, the attendance of, and financial obligation to
163 the Regional Convention be dispensed.

165 c. In case a member who works abroad and cannot, in any
166 way, satisfy the requirement of attending conventions,
167 the GEP Caraga Board of Directors, in very meritorious
168 cases, may dispense with the requirement of Continuing
169 Professional Education or Development (CPE/CPD) if the
170 applicant can show proof of his overseas employment
171 covering the three (3) year period of compliance;

173 All of the above must be complied with a minimum requirement
174 before any member can be given a Certificate of Good
175 Standing.

177 Section 13. Rights. No special rights or privileges shall attach
178 to the status of a regular membership and the approving of
179 each membership shall not exempt the member from paying
180 regular dues to the local, regional and national
181 organization, for as long as he wishes and is qualified, to
182 remain as an active individual member.

184 Section 14. Prohibition. No. GEP Caraga member shall, individually
185 or collectively, engage in activities which conflict with the
186 purposes or ideals of the GEPI and the Code of Ethics of the
187 Geodetic Engineering profession in general.

189 Section 15. Application Form. All application for GEP Caraga
190 membership shall substantially follow the prescribed GEP
191 Caraga membership form. The Applicant shall fill and
192 personally submit the form to the Regional Treasurer and to
193 the Regional Executive Secretary.
