1 CARAGA REGIONS OUTSTANDING GEODETIC ENGINEER OF THE YEAR

3 ARTICLE 1 PURPOSE

5 Section 1: Award purpose.
6 The Caraga Regions Outstanding Geodetic Engineer of the
7 year Award recognizes members unprecedented efforts and
8 consistent contribution to the organization, as well as
9 his sustained excellence in carrying out his duties and
10 responsibilities and service of the profession in an
11 exceptional manner.

13 ARTICLE 2 AWARDS AND RECOGNITION COMMITTEE

15 Section 1: Composition of the committee.
16 Awards and Recognition Committee shall be composed of a
17 Chairman and two members from the Regional Board of
18 Directors.

20 Section 2: Appointing authority.
21 The Regional President, upon approval of the majority of
22 the Board of Directors, shall appoint the Chairman and the
23 two members of the committee.

25 Section 3: Vacancy.
26 In case of vacancy, disability or incapacity of any or all
27 of the members composing the committee, the Regional
28 President shall have the power to appoint any member from
29 the regional board of directors to fill the position(s)
30 vacated.

32 ARTICLE 3 ELIGIBILITY

34 Section 1: Pre-Qualifications.
35 The applicant, being endorsed by the local chapter, or by
36 peers, must:
37 1. Be a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines;
38 2. Be a member with good moral character (supported with
39 the following)
40 i. Barangay Certification as a man with good
41 reputation
42 ii. NBI and Police Clearance

43 iii. Court clearance (Municipal and Regional);

45 Section 2: Additional qualifications.
46 The applicant must have:
47 1. Attended or actively participated in at least five (5)
48 of the local chapter or regional activity;
49 2. No unsettled, unpaid account(s) or pending obligation
50 to the GEP local, regional and national organization;
51 3. Been a member of good standing for the last two (2)
52 consecutive GEP year;
53 4. Been a duly registered Geodetic Engineer with the
54 Professional Regulation Commission - Board of Geodetic
55 Engineering and holder of a valid professional
56 identification card;

58 Section 3: Disqualification.
59 Disqualified to apply are those who:
60 1. Were past Awardee for a period of five (5) years after
61 receiving the Award;
62 2. Have been found guilty of any violations of the
63 provisions of the Constitution and By-Laws, Code of
64 Ethics, and other existing ARTICLEs and regulations of
65 the organization;
66 3. Have been found guilty in an administrative case, by a
67 final and executory decision, rendered by the Board of
68 Geodetic Engineering, of the Professional Regulation
69 Commission;
70 4. Have been convicted of a final judgement by a court of
71 competent jurisdiction of any crime involving moral
72 turpitude;
73 5. Cannot be able to attend and receive the award in person
74 (no posthumous award given).

78 Section 1: Merits.
79 The award are categorized into active and non-active
80 practice.

82 Section 2: Active practice.
83 An award for any Geodetic Engineers engaged in any
84 government and, or in non-government project(s).

86 Section 3: Non-Active practice.
87 An award for any Geodetic Engineer serving in government
88 and, or in a non-government institutions.

93 Applicant will be judged upon:
94 1. Professional Competence of the highest degree and
95 conducted himself with integrity in the exercise of
96 Geodetic Engineering profession. (50%)

184 ARTICLE 7 APPLICATION PACKAGE

187 The completed application form duly filled by the
188 applicant, in six (6) copies, must have been notarized.

190 Section 2: Board Resolution/Endorsement Letter
191 Board Resolution of the local chapter or endorsement
192 letter by peers, whichever is applicable, endorsing the
193 applicant, which is signed by the majority of the Board of
194 Directors and attested by its Chapter President.

196 Section 3: Written statement
197 The written statement is the central element of the
198 application. It provides the opportunity for applicant to
199 describe his professional activities, and specifically
200 address each of the selection criteria. The written
201 statement should be written by the applicant and presented
202 under the following headings:
203 1. Professional competence of the highest degree and
204 conducted himself with integrity in the exercise of his
205 profession;
206 2. Participated meaningfully in organization activities;
207 3. Contributed significantly to the advancement of the
208 profession;
209 4. Contributed significantly to the effective discharge of
210 the professions social responsibility through

211 meaningful contribution/participation of civic related
212 activities.

214 The majority of the written statement should be devoted to
215 addressing each of the criteria in turn. Applicant must
216 provide evidence in support of his claims against these
217 criteria. The written statement is limited to five A4 pages
218 in total (11 point Arial or Calibri, narrow fonts must not
219 be used).

221 Section 4: Professional Profile
222 The profile should outline the applicants educational
223 qualifications and career history. It shall be written in
224 A4 size paper, summarized of not more than 500 words single
225 spaced text (11 point Arial or Calibri, narrow fonts must
226 not be used).

228 Section 5: Photograph of the Applicant
229 A recent high quality (minimum 600 dpi) raw photograph of
230 the applicant in formal attire and white background, in
231 JPEG format.

233 If you do not have a suitable photograph, please contact
234 the Engr. Voltaire Rosario to arrange a photo session. For
235 successful applicant, this photograph may be used for
236 publicity purposes.

238 Section 6: Supporting materials
239 Selection is based primarily on the written statement
240 addressing the selection criteria. However, applicant may
241 include selected materials supporting his claims against
242 the selection criteria.

244 The relevance of any such material must be made clear in
245 the written statement. Printed supporting material should
246 be included in the application (maximum four pages);

254 Section 8: Photocopy of PRC GE License Card
255 The applicant must possess a valid PRC Geodetic
256 Engineering license Card, however matter of an expired
257 card, the applicant must show proof of undertaking the
258 renewal of his PRC GE License Card.

260 Section 9. Liberal Construction.
261 All of these ARTICLEs and definitions shall be liberally
262 construed to the end that all matters of controversy may
263 be appropriately resolved and/or settled.

265 ARTICLE 8 SCHEDULE OF SUBMISSION, SCREENING, AND SELECTION

267 Section 1: Submission
268 The application should be sent as a single PDF file
269 (excluding the Applicant Photograph, which should be sent
270 as a separate JPEG file), to __ (region email or website)__

273 Section 2: Receipt.
274 Receipt of all applications will be acknowledged by email.
275 If you do not receive a confirmation email within a week
276 of submission, please contact any Member of the Committee
277 on Awards and Recognition.

279 Section 3: Screening and Selection
280 The schedule of screening and selection for the
281 outstanding Geodetic Engineer of the year award shall be
282 from January to February, and shall be completed not later
283 than March.

285 Section 4: Selection of Awardees
286 Awards and Recognition Committee shall conduct a panel
287 interview of the applicant endorsed by its local chapter,
288 and shall individually rate the applicant in accordance
289 with the criteria set forth by the commission.

291 Section 5: Ratings
292 The ratings given by the committee shall be tallied to
293 determine the highest ranked applicant who shall

294 thereafter be declared as the recipient of the Caraga
295 Regions Outstanding Geodetic Engineer of the year award.

297 ARTICLE 9 NOTIFICATION

299 Section 1: Applicants shall be advised of the outcome in mid-
300 March. Feedback for unsuccessful applicants will be
301 available via the Committee Chair on Awards and
302 Recognition.

304 Section 2: Successful applicant shall be officially notified in
305 writing of his selection, to be awarded during the Regional
306 Convention. Name of awardee will be published on the GEP
307 Caraga website and other media as appropriate.

309 ARTICLE 10 ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE AWARDEE

311 Section 1: The Regional President with the Chairman of Awards
312 and Recognition Committee shall make the Official
313 announcement of the Caraga Regions Outstanding Geodetic
314 Engineer of the Year Award during the Regional Convention.

316 ARTICLE 11 NOMINATION TO THE MINDNAO AREA ASSEMBLY

318 Section 1: The Awardee, the Caraga Regions Outstanding
319 Geodetic Engineer, shall be the Official Nominee for the
320 Outstanding Geodetic Engineer during the Mindanao Area
321 Assembly and/or to the GEP National Convention.
