This study aims to determine the themes of research, the tendency of thesis
research Mathematics Education students on 2016/2017 academic year and some
background to conduct the research. This information is very important as a
references to other students Who will conduct the research and also as a School
references to improve the quality and research diversification that students do in
following years. This research is qualitative descriptive research. The subject of
this research is 8th semester students of Mathematics Education Study Program.
The data sources in this study were obtained by using questionnaires and
interviews. To get credible data, it is done by triangulation method. The results
showed that the most dominant educational issues were the learning model. While
attribute variables or other secondary issues are problem solving and conceptual
understanding. Similarly, the selection of research types CAR (Classroom Action
Research) most used by Mathematic Education students in conduct their research.
Then the focus of research is geometry. While the subject of research that often
used in the research is the equivalent of junior high school. Furthermore, for the
background this tendency is to know friends, lecturers, And ease in finding
references, selection of materials due to limited time and schedule in school, and
students more mastered the material in the junior high than the material in high
school.
