Time
20 minutes

Preparation
Duplicate one copy of the worksheet for each
student.

Procedure

1. Tell students they are going to practice using three-word

phrasal verbs to make guesses about their partners. They
will then interview their partners to find out how well
they guessed.
2. Put students in pairs and distribute the worksheets. Give
students a minute to look them over and answer any
questions about vocabulary.
3. Model the activity by having students look at the first
statement on their sheets. Explain that they should check
one of the three given answers or check Other and write
their own guess. Elicit a few guesses from students about
their partners, including some suggestions for Other
answers. Then ask the partners if the guesses were correct
or not and what the correct answer would be.
4. Have students continue the activity in pairs. They first
work individually to answer the questions about their
partner. Then they discuss answers with their partner to
find out if their guesses were correct or not.
