Air emission solutions can be divided

Conversions and Slow steaming
kits.
Secondary solutions are defined
as emission reduction methods
which reduce the emissions
after they have been formed
within the engine. Secondary

NOR (NOx Reducer, based on

Waste water management
Wrtsil provides technically
advanced waste treatment systems in
response to environmental needs and
marine legislation. Wrtsil Hamworthy
sewage treatment plants are fully
compatible with gravity and vacuum
collection systems and chemical
disinfection and de-chlorination are
employed to produce a clean, safe,
effluent suitable for discharging at sea.
To enable ships to continue
discharging black and grey water in
especially sensitive waters, where
regulations demand tighter controls,
Wrtsil Hamworthy developed
a range of Membrane Bioreactor
(MBR) plants. The Wrtsil Oily Water
separator gives the operator effective
control over all bilge and sludge
media, as well as over any discharges
made into the sea.
Wrtsil Bilge Water Guard is a fully
automated bilge discharge monitoring
system installed between the bilge
system and the overboard discharge
pipe to monitor the oil content in the
discharge water, instantly stopping the
flow should the oil content rise above
the set limit.

OVERVIEW
In December 2012 Wrtsil signed the contract to
engineer and supply a large 225 MW power plant to
South Texas Electric Cooperative (STEC) in the USA. The
