ASSESSMENT

1. Qualitative research is an inductive and related to process type of research that is

conducted in a natural environment in searching for meaning from the participants involved
on a certain matter. A qualitative research does not include statistic but descriptive data that
is made from observation on participants.

2. Two advantages of qualitative research are:

Its flexibility throughout the whole research process

It provides us with information that about a culture, culture group or an individual of
the research.

3. Three disadvantages of qualitative research:

Lengthy time taken in data collection.

Bias issues as researcher is there in the environment where it is supposed to be
naturalistic.
Validity and reliability of data.

4. Holistic description is making description as a whole by looking at the big picture from
research data.

5. Corroboration refers to making confirmation on the findings of the research to make sure
that it reflects the peoples perception.

6. Triangulation is related to corroboration where it involves multiple data sources , multiple

researcher making cross examination on the findings.

7. List 5 types of participation observation:

External participation
Balanced participation
Active participation
Passive participation
Total participation

8. Case study refers to past research done that is similar to the current research done and it
is often use as to collect data.
9. Methods of maintaining validity of qualitative research.

10. Four criteria for evaluation of qualitative research:

credibility
dependability
transferability
conformability
11. List ways to establish trustworthiness for each strategy:

i) credibility longer time taken to observe and interact with participants

ii) dependability auditing research process, documenting raw data and assess method
of data analysis
iii) transferability generalize study findings
iv) conformability have other researcher to agree on the findings

12. List twelve comparisons between qualitative and quantitative research.
