The ASP510 provides a number of
AES3
solutions for preparing 5.1 and Dolby
Digital masters. The schematic shown
6 CHANNEL ADC assumes that both 5.1 and Dolby Digital are
to be created simultaneously.

The 5.1 mix from the console is

connected to the ASP510 via its
SURROUND BUS port with the 5.1
recorder interfaced via the
SURROUND A RECORD and PLAY ports,

suitable convertors depending on the type
5.1 PLAY of codecs being used). The encoded output
is then recorded on two track machine C

decoder input and thereby to the ASP510.
MULTI TRACK RECORDER A

The direct and recorded 5.1 mix can now

be monitored by using SURROUND A
PLAY and RECORD monitor selection
switches. Selecting SURROUND B PLAY
as the monitor source enables the decoded
STEREO RECORD/PLAYBACK
output to be monitored before and after
tape (record/playback switching is

performed by the recorder).

STEREO RECORD/PLAYBACK The two track machines may be used to

record either the Stereo mix from the
TWO TRACK RECORDER B console or a stereo downmix of the 5.1
mix by selecting BUS or DOWNMIX
respectively as the STEREO RECORD
L C R SOURCE.

If a recording of the Dolby Digital encoded

5.1 mix is not required the encoder and
decoder may be looped together and
connected to the ASP510 ENCODER and
DECODER ports. The codecs can then be
LIVE SOURCES
inserted into the monitor chain by
LS SUB RS depressing the ENCODER/DECODER
switch.

Compatibility checks are possible at all

times using the MONITOR FORMAT
selection switches.
