BCGP PROGRAMS Better Bike Share Partnership

Indego, Philadelphias newest form of public transportation, has over 1,000 bikes at 100 stations and
people have taken more than 1.2 million trips since its April 2015 launch.

40% of Indegos stations are in low-income neighborhoods and Philadelphia is a leader in engaging
diverse communities through its payment methods, outreach and workforce development activities.
Since 2014, BCGP has encouraged Indego usage in low-income neighborhoods through its participation
with the Better Bike Share Partnership, providing safety classes and learning opportunities for current
and future Indego riders. This work has resulted in 110 community rides and 96 classes, reaching over
1,000 people.

The Better Bike Share Partnership is a collaboration funded by The JPB Foundation to build equitable and replicable bike share
systems. The partners include The City of Philadelphia, Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, the National Association of City
Transportation Officials (NACTO) and the PeopleForBikes Foundation.

Women Bike PHL

Since 2012, Women Bike PHLs online community has grown to more than 3,500 members. With
regular rides, classes, and meetups, Women Bike PHL continues to inspire and encourage more
women to ride and build community among those who do. In December 2016, Janney Montgomery
Scott selected Women Bike PHL for a year long sponsorship to offer financial advising at select
coffee clubs and a speaker series.

Cadence Youth Cycling

In 2016, Cadence Youth Cyclings (CYC) spring season had seven teams with 103 youth, and
together they rode over 1,000 miles! Nearly 40 youth became All Stars, earning the privilege to Staff Member, Taylor, with Cadence All Stars
bring their bicycles home. All Stars participated in one or more of three summer teams: Tour, Race
and Triathlon; rode in the Bucks County Covered Bridges ride; and were introduced to Cyclocross.
A proud moment for the program was senior Allen Williams winning a Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation Millenium Scholarship, based in part on an essay about the impact of CYC on his
leadership and volunteer experience. In September, Taylor Kuyk-White began as CYCs new
Program Manager and brings to the job her rich history in positive youth development work,
competitive cycling, and social justice organizing. In late 2016, a transformative gift of $25,000
from Jerry Jacobs is helping to expand and enrich CYCs competitive Race Team.

Vision Zero
In June 2016, our spring campaign focusing on passage of a ten-year
extension of the red light camera bill was rewarded when Governor Wolf
signed the bill into law. This guaranteed that Philadelphias 27 red light
cameras can continue unimpeded to contribute to slower speeds and
safer intersections.

In September, we launched the Vision Zero Alliance with partner

organizations. In November 2016, Mayor Kenney followed through on his
campaign pledge by signing an Executive Order creating the new position of
2016 Ride of Silence the Complete Streets Director and established a Vision Zero Task Force with
a mandate to develop an action plan to eliminate traffic deaths by 2030. All of these factors were recommendations made in the Bicycle
Coalitions Better Mobility Platform for 2015 Mayoral Candidates. Philadelphias first Complete Streets Director was hired and the Mayor
issued a draft Vision Zero Action Plan in March 2017, a week after our third, and highest-attended, Vision Zero conference.

BCGP is dedicated to safety for all road users throughout the Delaware Valley. As a representative of the cycling community, we believe we
have a unique responsibility to promote safe bicycling in Philadelphia. In summer 2016, we launched Bike Nice, a courtesy campaign to
promote and encourage all cyclists to follow the rules of the road, for the sake of everyoneespecially pedestrians. This campaign of photos
of BCGP staff was distributed via social media and displayed on Center City Districts LED billboard in Dilworth Park during July and August,
reaching over 30,000 monthly visitors.
