Headteachers Message
I am writing to share some good news with you. Since October
we have been trying to convince the council that students are in
danger due to the poor traffic restrictions along Orchard Way.
We have had a number of visits from the council and engineers
to assess the situation and I am delighted to announce that the
council have finally agreed to build a zebra crossing to keep our
students, families and school safe. This is brilliant news and we
are thrilled that the council have recognised the seriousness
of the problem. It is hoped that the crossing will be ready for
September.
School Minibus
We submitted a bid to the European Council for a new mini bus
and again we have successfully won our bid. We will receive a
brand new mini bus worth 48,000 but due to bureaucracy, the
mini bus will not be ready until October half term; nevertheless
this is great news for the school, the community who use our
mini bus and the PE department who take students on many
fixtures.
Staff INSET
We had a very successful staff INSET day on Wednesday 28th
June in which Paul Dix came to deliver training on behaviour
management. This was a truly inspirational day as Paul is one of
the top behavioural experts, supporting schools nationally and
internationally. He is globally acclaimed as one of the top experts
in his field.
As a result of this training we will be reviewing our behaviour
policy which will be framed on Ready, Respectful, Safe. The new
policy will be made available in September.
Changes to Year Leaders
Due to the promotion of staff there will be a reshuffle to the year with many stalls, activities and refreshments.

Student Achievement
We finished the term with achievement assemblies and
celebrations to mark the hard work of our students.
Furthermore, we are busy finalising our Junior Leadership Team
plans for which our Year 10 students have been canvassing
over the last 3 weeks. This is a new leadership opportunity for
students which they have requested through student voice, so
not only will we have our Sixth Form student leaders but the
support of the upper school students will be a welcome addition
to ensure that the views of all students are considered and we
have a fair representation across the school.
Summer Holidays and September
After a very busy year everyone is ready for a well deserved
break. I would like to thank all the staff , students and parents/
carers for all their hard work and the many contributions
everyone has made to the school. We have had lots to celebrate
this year.
Students have now received a letter outlining the start of term
arrangements. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in
September, particularly our new Year 7 students.

Summer Fete- Thank You
A huge thank you to all students, staff, parents/
carers and to our community who attended
and supported this years Summer Fete and
Reunion as we celebrated the schools 40th
Celebrations! A fun packed day was had by all,
These ranged from bouncy castles, smash the
crockery, craft stalls, tombola, BBQ and various
dancers who received rave reviews.
This years Fete was coordinated by the Parent and Teacher
Association. A huge thank you to the members of the PTA for all
their hard work and for making this event possible.

Head Boy Science Visit

Star ex-student and budding young
scientist Marco F visited our school
last month. Marco, one of our highest
achieving students at Edenham High
School is currently studying a Masters
Degree in Physics at St Johns College,
Oxford University.
Marco achieved 4A* grades in Physics,
Chemistry, Mathematics and Further
Mathematics at Edenham High School in
summer 2016.
During his visit, Marco held talks
with groups of Year 10 students emphasising that diligence and
consistent hard work was the key to his good academic grades.
Marco also shared his first experiences of university life with our
students.
Thank you Marco for being an inspiration to our students.

Edenhams Year 11 Leavers Prom was a resounding success and
proved to be a fond, emotional farewell to a group of students
who have spent five fantastic years at Edenham. The Prom was a
mixture of fun, reflection and an opportunity to express gratitude
and say farewell to the staff and peers. The Year 11 Prom took
place at Farleigh Court Golf Course, Farleigh. Students arrived
in a variety of transport and all looked stunning in their Prom
attire. Many stayed outside to welcome others as they arrived
reflecting a genuine desire to maintain the sense of community
that has been evident throughout their time at Edenham. After
dancing the night away, the final song was extremely emotional
with students reluctant to leave knowing it may well be the last
time that everybody might be together. Edenham High School is
extremely proud of our Year 11 students and wish them well in
their examinations and future endeavours.

Evening. Students received rewards and recognition for their hard
work and sporting achievements. A massive well done to the PE
department for organising another fantastic evening.

Sports Captain Award

Sports Captain Award 2017 goes to, Aneesa and Jakub Year 10.

A group of 40 excited Year 7 students had the opportunity to visit

the Olympic Stadium in Stratford and watch some of the World
Para-Athletics Championships. The students got to see a World
Record in the Triple Jump final as well as some fantastic track
events such as the wheelchair 200m and 400m heats and the
visually impaired 100m heats. It was an enjoyable day and the
students that came were a credit to their Year group.

Sporting Records 2017 Arsenals Ball Squad
Kai, a Year 7 student attended Arsenals Ball Squad trials during
the Easter Holidays this year. He was up against approximately
170 other young people aged between 12-16 and had to show his
throwing and catching skills as well as participating in a reaction
test. To his surprise he was selected in the final 20 to make up
Arsenals Ball Squad Team for season 2017/2018.
