drives the most economical, efficient and environmentally friendly solution.

Dynamic response, high torque. ACS 6000 for synchronous motors.

The typical field of use for ACS 6000 synchronous drives is the metal industry, and it
is characterized by outstanding overloadability, high acceleration capability and torque
response.

The key features:

High torque at low speeds
Torque rise time, 2.5 ms
Power range 3 to 27 MVA
High reliability thanks to a low parts count
Direct and brushless excitation

High power, wide speed range. ACS 6000 for induction motors.
Induction motors are the workhorses that are widely used in industry. The ACS 6000 is
ideal for applications such as propulsion systems, pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors,
hoists, mills and crushers in the marine, mining & minerals, oil & gas, metals, petrochemi-
cal, water, pulp & paper and other industries.

The key features:

High power output at any speed
Wide speed range
Low maintenance
Power range 3 to 27 MVA
High reliability thanks to a low parts count

More drive, more return. The redundant ACS 6000 drive.

The ACS 6000 allows various schemes for redundant drive configurations. Thus operation at
reduced power is maintained in case of a partial failure of the converter.

The result:
Enhanced reliability
Increased availability

Beyond your expectations. ACS 6000 Multi-drive.

Synchronous and induction motors: as single drives or mixed multi-motor drives.
Any combination is possible in order to provide the optimum configuration.

The unique milestone. The common DC bus.

Several motors either the same or of different size and type exchange energy
via the common DC-bus without loading the transformer and rectifier.

The result:
Smaller footprint
Reduced number of main circuit breakers and transformers
Reduced ratings of rectifier, breakers, cables and transformers in cases with parallel
driving and braking

Modular use, one design.
You can build on the ACS 6000 product range.

Dynamics make a difference. Dynamics that ACS 6000 drives are built to handle.
The drives are modular, expanding in line with your requirements. With the
performance that you want. And with a technology that makes so much happen.

What you need is what you get. The flexibility of modules.

Up to 5 motors can be linked to the common DC-bus, thus enabling multiple machine
operation and energy recuperation directly via the DC-link without loading supply
transformers and network.

Converter rating fits exactly customer requirements.

Each configuration consists of well proven modules, thus minimizing the risk of design errors.
The compact, standardized design and the integrated water cooling system reduce space
requirements and have positive impacts on room conditioning.
Multidrive topologies with common DC-bus are possible.
Installation and commissioning time is reduced compared to engineered systems due to
standardized procedures and documentation.

A platform of innovation. Technology highlights.

You want to perform. And so do we. As a company, and when it comes to products,
solutions und services. That is why we strive for innovation. And that is why we continue
to set technological milestones.

Outstanding. Integrated Gate Commuted Thyristor IGCT.

The ACS 6000 uses a revolutionary power semiconductor switching device. Known
as IGCT (Integrated Gate Commutated Thyristor), it provides an intrinsically less
complex, more efficient and reliable converter. IGCTs combine high-speed switching
such as IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) with high blocking voltage and
low conduction losses such as GTOs (Gate Turn-Off Thyristors).

Top precision. Direct Torque Control DTC.

The motor control platform is based on ABB's award winning Direct Torque Control
(DTC), resulting in the highest torque and speed performance ever achieved
in medium voltage drives.

DTC allows a response time that's up to ten times faster than conventional control
methods using flux vector or pulse width modulation (PWM).
The fast control provided by DTC allows optimum process control and exact motor
performance with minimum torque ripple. The result is constant production quality,
minimum raw material waste, and minimum machinery wear.

Versatile. Vector control with Active Rectifier Unit.

When using the 4-quadrant option for regenerative braking, or when the elimination
of harmonics is a major issue, the Line Supply Unit (LSU) can be replaced by an
Active Rectifier Unit (ARU).

Thanks to the fast switching capability of the IGCT, plus power factor control,

The power factor is controlled to unity through the whole operating range,
even at very low speeds, while
Harmonic content in input and output is reduced to a minimum by means
of pre-defined, optimized pulse-patterns
Optionally the power factor can be controlled between 0.8 leading and 0.8 lagging
