Cognitive text lingu istics is a branch o f Cogn itive L inguistics, which takes text as its resea rch ob jec t and aim s to accomm o-
da te text production and understanding into the genera l cogn itive m ode ls of hum an beings v ia cognitively-or iented inte rpre tation o f
tex t structure. R eg ard ing the nature and m eaning of tex t, cogn itive tex t lingu istics em braces respective ly the be lief o f cognitively-
m o tivatedness of tex tua l organ iza tion and that of interactiv ity of textual m eaning. Its research centers on the coherence of text,
m a in ly prob ing into the w ay s coherentm enta l representation of the tex t is established unde r the stim ulus o f the use o f language re-
sources, such as cohesion and inform a tion un fo lding struc ture. In its resea rch, wh ile cogn itive tex t lingu istics takes cognitiv e a-
bility of hum an be ings in genera l as the v iew po in t, and context as the supporting po int, it lays spec ia l emphas is on integration o f
producer-orien tation and rece iv er-o rienta tion, and that o f dynam ic research and static research.
