This paper addressed a study of the technical and exploitation characteristics of the
35,000 tdw oil tanker "Robert Maersk", the requirements for the ballast installation by a
classification register and its calculation.
The ship resistance calculation was made according to which the main propulsion engine
was chosen.
Depending on these results, the centrifugal pump calculation was performed and a pump
drive motor was chosen to meet the requirements of the plant and the pump.
The shaft of the rotor for which a technological sheet has been made and the rotor shaft's
manufacturing process has been established.
The choice of machinery, tools, devices and measuring devices is conditional upon the
establishment of the machining regimes.
Both the choice of tools and their manufacturing materials were carefully chosen from the
existing STAS.
In the final part of the paper were presented the main conclusions of the paper by
interpreting the results obtained by calculation.
The annexes of the paper contain schemes, tables and graphs on the issues addressed in
the contents of each chapter.
During the elaboration of the paper, the requirements and the recommendations for its
drafting, stipulated in the "Methodology of drawing up the diploma project", were considered.
It was taken into consideration that the bibliography consulted for carrying out the work
included all the works consulted, both of the written materials and those found on the specialized
websites
