LATINOAMERICA, EXIGIMOS LIBERACIN DEL LIDER OPOSITOR VENEZOLANO
CARLOS GRAFFE.

El da 13 de julio de 2017, la Guardia Nacional, con vestimenta civil, detiene arbitrariamente al
dirigente opositor venezolano Carlos Graffe, en la Ciudad de Valencia, Estado de Carabobo,
Venezuela cuando sala de un consultorio mdico.

La detencin de Carlos Graffe, se realiz sin que existiese la comisin de un delito ni orden de
aprehensin. Carlos Graffe, un joven ciudadano comprometido con la libertad, la paz, la
democracia, el acceso y la calidad del agua, y los derechos humanos en Venezuela, es presentado
ante un Tribunal Militar y enviado a la prisin militar de Ramo Verde.

Recientemente Carlos Graffe fue operado de emergencia y continua convaleciente de una
condicin renal: si no es atendido adecuadamente por su mdico, la vida del dirigente opositor
corre grave peligro.

Los abajo firmantes, exigimos la libertad inmediata de Carlos Graffe, y el respeto a sus Derechos
Humanos. Condenamos la actuacin violenta y arbitraria por parte del Estado Venezolano de
detencin con motivaciones polticas a civiles para presentarlos a tribunales militares como
herramienta poltica.

Asimismo, hacemos un llamado a la comunidad internacional a condenar la detencin arbitraria
de Carlos Graffe y velar por sus derechos humanos, y de todos los presos polticos en Venezuela.

 WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, LEADERS OF POLITICAL YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS,
YOUNG LEADERS OF CIVIL SOCIETY, AND YOUNG ELECTED OFFICIALS IN LATIN
AMERICA DEMAND FREEDOM FOR VENEZUELAN OPPOSITTION LEADER
CARLOS GRAFFE.

On July 13th, 2017, the National Guard, with civilian clothing, arbitrarily detained opposition
leader Carlos Graffe, in the city of Valencia, State of Carabobo, Venezuela as he was leaving a
medical facility.

The detention of Carlos Graffe, was executed without the commission of a crime or felony, and
without an arrest warrant. Carlos Graffe, a young citizen committed to freedom, peace,
democracy, the access and quality of water, and human rights in Venezuela, was brought before
a Military Tribunal and sent to military prison Ramo Verde.

Recently, Carlos Graffe underwent an emergency surgery and continues ill with a renal condition:
if he is not adequately treated by his medical doctor, the life of the opposition leader runs with
grave danger.

We, the undersigned, demand the immediate freedom for Carlos Graffe, and the respect of his
Human Rights. We condemn the violent proceedings of the Venezuelan State of detaining
civilians and with political motivations charging them in Military Tribunals as a political weapon.

Likewise, we call on the international community to condemn the arbitrary detention of Carlos
Graffe and oversee the respect of his human rights, as well as of the other political prisoners in
Venezuela.
