Microsoft DirectX 9 is installed together with the game unless this or a more up to date version is already installed.

Required: Internet connection required to activate the game on Steam.

2) Installation
__________________

The game can be played on limited or standard user accounts, but you need administrator privileges to initiate the
installation process. Ask the computers administrator for assistance if you do not have sufficient privileges.

INSTALLING THE GAME

BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Please make sure you are installing the game from a user account that has installation
privileges.

1) Insert the DVD into your DVD drive. The language select prompt will appear. (If the prompt does
not appear within a short time, double-click the My Computer icon on your Windows desktop, your DVD
icon and then the Setup.exe icon.)

2) After youve selected the language, the install screen will appear. Select Install. If you do not have
Steam currently installed, you will be prompted to do so at this point. During installation, you may be
prompted to allow the Steam Installer to run. You will also be prompted to log in to your existing Steam
account or create a new one.

3) After Steam is installed you will be prompted to enter the games Product Code. You will find
this on the product installation insert card. If you are not prompted, go to the Games Menu and select
Activate a product on Steam.

4) Once installation is complete, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North will appear on the
Steam Library tab.

LAUNCHING THE GAME

To run The Lord of the Rings: War in the North from the Start Menu:
1) Click on the Windows Start button.

2) Select Programs and then Steam. Click on the Library tab, and double-click the game title or
click the PLAY button to launch the game.

3) The game will go through an update step to install some remaining content before the game runs.
If youre using Windows Vista, you may be prompted to allow Steam Client Service to run. After all
necessary components have been installed, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North will run.

3) Options

In the Options menu you can adjust settings for Video, Audio, Input and other game settings. The Options menu
button is located on the Main Menu. Click Options, and then click Settings.

VIDEO SETTINGS

Change Resolution: The game will adjust the video settings to suit your system. To change the video settings:

Click Video Settings.

Click Change Resolution.

Click on the desired resolution.

Click Yes to Accept.

Click Back. The changes will be saved automatically.

Toggle Fullscreen: Selecting this will switch the game between Fullscreen and Windowed mode at the chosen
resolution.

Calibrate Screen: Select this to calibrate the screen for optimal viewing.

Click on Calibrate Screen once, and then a second time to confirm.

Click and hold to adjust the slider with the mouse until the symbol in the black box is barely visible.

Press Enter twice.

Advanced Graphics Settings: There are some additional graphical settings available during game play. To adjust
the Advanced Graphics Settings:

During gameplay, press ESC to enter the Pause Menu.

Choose Graphics Settings.

NOTE:

If the game is running with a low frame rate, it is suggested that you lower the Resolution,
Shadows and Texture Detail. These options can be found within the Advanced Graphics Settings menu per
above.
Graphical corruption can occur after changing some of the settings. It will correct itself when you
resume and/or restart the game.

AUDIO SETTINGS

To change the Audio Settings:

Press the Up and Down arrows keys to select the desired volume control.

Press the Left and Right arrow keys to lower or raise the volume.

Press ESC to save the setting and return to the previous menu.

INPUT SETTINGS

To adjust the Input Settings:

Click on the desired Input Setting.

Press Left and Right arrow keys to increase or decrease the Mouse Sensitivity.

Press ESC to save the setting and return to the previous menu.

Keyboard Configuration: From here, you may alter the keyboard and mouse button settings. Up to two input keys
can be used per selection (primary and alternate key). To change the key mapping:

Click on the action you wish to change.

Press the key (or mouse button) you wish to use.

Press ESC and click Save Changes to save and return to the previous menu.

Setting up a Microsoft Xbox360 Game Controller: The Lord of the Rings: War in the North supports up to
two USB game pads. Simply plug in, install the required drivers as needed and the game is ready-to-play. You
cannot change the button mapping.
GAME SETTINGS

To adjust the Game Settings:

Click on the desired Game Setting to toggle it.

Press ESC to save the setting and return to the previous menu.

Connection Type: Choose a connection type prior to hosting or joining any multiplayer game. For best performance
on a local area network (LAN), set this to the LAN setting. For best results online, change it back to the
INTERNET setting when playing online multiplayer over the internet.

Basic troubleshooting in PC games
We did our best to make sure that the product is as compatible with the current hardware range as possible.
However, if you should encounter a problem while using one of our products, you may contact our Customer
Support Centre.

Before you contact the Customer Support Centre, it is recommended that you do the following:
1. If you have an Internet connection, you should check if there is a solution at
www.cenega.pl/pomoc.php.
2. Install the most up-to-date game patches from www.cenega.pl/pliki.php.
3. Update the graphic card drivers:

NVIDIA chipsets at www.nvidia.com (the Drivers bookmark);


ATI chipsets at www.amd.com (the Support & Drivers bookmark);
Other drivers can be found at their respective manufacturers' websites.

4. Update DirectX at www.microsoft.com.


5. Uninstall all virtual drive or emulator software and disable any applications running in the
background, including your anti-virus software.

Note: All driver and system component updates are made on your own accord. The game publisher and the
Customer Support Centre do not take responsibility for any software or hardware-related problems resulting from a
faulty installation.

Should the aforementioned procedures not solve your problem, please contact our Customer Support Centre and
give us the following information:
The game's title and edition (i.e. Kolekcja Klasyki, Premium Games, etc.).
A detailed description of the problem, including any error messages (if they appear).
In case of activation problems, please give us the faulty activation key.

You should also include a DXDiag report. In order to make the report:
Choose Run from the START Menu, type dxdiag and press Enter. A diagnostic tool will prepare
the report.
When the application is finished, press the Save all information button and save the report as a
text file (*.txt).
Attach the report file to your e-mail.
