Review: A Journal of Undergraduate Student Research 8.1 (2006): 50-55.

The article analyzes magazine Sports Illustrated to determine the sexualization of women

in sports and the lack of representation and media coverage that women in sports have. It

begins by talking about how the media has the ability to shape peoples views and beliefs

and goes on to talk about the poor coverage of women sports in the media with an

emphasis on gender roles being placed. The article reveals a shocking finding that in the

years 2000 to 2005 ninety-five percent of the magazine covers displayed men in sports

and only five percent of the covers displayed women.
