Integrated Reporting
The economy is facing a new value paradigm. These
changes, however, are not reflectedin the traditional
corporate reporting models. Traditional metrics for
‘measuring value and economic progress no longer
provide a complete picture, such as to disclose
environmental, social, and governance information
through reports,
Integrated reporting aimsto givea holistic view of the
organisation. Integrated reporting would build on
the existing financial reporting model to present
additional information about 4 company's strategy,
governance, and performance. It is aimed at
providing acompletepicture ofa company.
Corporate reporting will continue to evolve with the
changing business environment
and stakeholder expectations, Adding integrated
reporting to management’
‘agenda and to board strategy sessions may help
companiesdetermine how to meet
theseevolving expectations.ae se eeee

Essential Competencies/Skills for Internal Audit Excellence
The evolution of the intemal audit profession toward a more value-added risk assurance function continues to move
forward. While technical skills are needed for day-to-day work, analytical/critical thinking and communication are
personal skills thatcontinue to beat the top ofanychief audit executive's (CAE) wish lis
Practitioners with these skills have a higher probability ofovercoming any technical deficiencies and stepping up to
meet stakeholders’ value-added expectations. To find practitioners with these skills, CAEs need to have a deliberate
talent management plan. They should prioritize identifying those candidates with key personal skills through
behavioral assessments, looking at diverse backgrounds. When itis not feasible to hire staff for particular skills or
needs, they can consider using resources in other arees of the organization (co-sourcing) or obtaining support from
outside the organization (outsourcing). Finally, CAEs should establish development programs that further improve
on personal skills whileaugmenting industry-specific knowledge and other technicalskilk.
Results from the CBOK 2015 Global Practitioner Survey describe the 7 skills CAEs want: Personal Skills
(Analytical/critical thinking, Communication) and Technical Skills (Accounting, Risk management assurance,

Auditingin the PublicSector: Managing Expectations, Delivering Results
A significant proportion of internal auditors in Indonesia work in the public sector. They work in central and local
government authorities (ministry, various government institution, provincial/district/city government agencies).
In carrying out their responsibilities, they face a quite unique set of challenges. Given that they must satisfy both
their intemal stakeholders (their minister, heads of institutions, governor, mayor) they also be accountable to
both politicians and the public. Other challenges include: (i) resource limitations when compared with the private
sector auditors; (i) greater public transparency and accountability within governments; (i) the absence of audit
committee functions to support independence; (iv) as well as other challenges that arefacedby other auditorsuch
‘asgrowing threats from cyber risk and other emerging risks.
This session will discuss the tips to be played by indonesian public sector internal auditor to overcome these
challenges in order to manage expectations and delivering results by exploring to 2015 The As Global Internal
Audit Common Body of Knowledge (CBOK) research report.

Keeping up with Social Media
There are many types of social media tools and platforms that organizations may be using |
already or plan to use, including: Blogs (Blogger and WordPress), Microblogs (Twitter), image-
and video-sharing sites (YouTube), Social networking sites (e.g., Facebook and Google+), |
Location-based sites, Foursquare), Professional networking sites (LinkedIn), instant messaging
(WA and BBM1)and Social bookmarking sites (Pinterest).
While internal auditors cannot be expert users of every social media channel, it is nonetheless important to be
aware of what's out there and be familiar with the most popular sites. Having a familiarity with each one of these
tools isa requirement to be proficientin conducting the auait. Auditors also need to stay updatedon changesin the
socialmedia landscape froma risk perspective.
Optimizing the Benefit of QAR
In todays environment, the need fora quality, independentintemnal audit function is more critical than ever before.
Inaddition, thereis greater pressure from management for the internal audit function toprovidevalue tothe entity.
The QAR process allows an internal audit function to. measure itself against organization policies, stakeholder
expectations, and industry best practices. Quality Assurance Review is a fact of ife for internal audit departments.
The question is not if it is coming, but will your internal audit department be ready when it arrives? The lIA's
Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards) require that internal auditing functions
should have both internal and external quality assessments. The Code of Ethics requires that internal auditors
performtheirservices in accordance withthe Standards. Theneedfor quality assurance reviews isalso recognizedin
other standards used by intemal auditors, inciudinggovernment auditing standards andstandards,
Byimplementing the QAR Program, somebenefits that wecanget are:
+ Increase partnering with management
+ Moreadding value by providing efficiency andeffectiveness ideasto management
+ Integrating concepts ofthe businesscontrols frameworkintothe A practice
+ Maximizing staffperformance
+ Communicating effectively to staff and organizationpersonnel
+ Developing staff, both personally and professionally
+ Using technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness
- Establishing quality assurance programs
While preparing for a QAR can be time-consuming and costly the benefits far out weight the costs. The QAR should
provide assurance to stockholders and other third parties, improve efficiency thereby lowering audit cost, and
benchmark practices against industry standards, In addition to the benefits derived from the QAR, the process of
preparing for the review should provide the department with aclearer understanding of their missionand howto
performiteflectivelyandefficiently.PIN che eee
