Abstract: It is vital for English books to provide various vocabulary ex ercises. To some extent, the form of exercises will determine how
students learn vocabulary knowledge. Currently, much importance has been attached to the form and the meaning in vocabulary exercise.
This paper has elaborated how semantic prosody is applied to designing vocabulary exercises. Owing to its sufficient context for the use of
vocabulary, it will be beneficial to improve learners. abilities in collocation and in pragmatics.
