CSP deployement in Spain: A long way to succeed

Growth of Solar Power

Technologies in Spain
Š PV technology already in the market with
around 4 GW installed. Special care is to be
taken with CSP, now !!

Š Solar thermal power plants were not
included at the first ‘feed-in tariff’ law for
renewables in year 1998 (R.D. 2818/1998).
Š R.D. 436/2004 already established a
suitable framework for both, promoters
and banks, then the ‘booming’ started….
Š R.D. 661/2007 confirmed the favourable
scenario.

Conclusions

• The future Spanish regulation, under negotiation
nowadays, will continue its support to
renewable energies based in five pillars:
1. Promote a sustainable development of the
different technologies to achieve the renewable
energy targets for 2020 (around 40% of electricity
energy targets for 2020 (around 40% of electricity
production). Th k ffor your attention
Thanks tt ti !!
2. Enhance technology development by adjusting
gradually the premiums.
3. Guarantee the necessary legal security for investors.
4. Simplify procedures for small installations (roofs).
5. Foster self‐consumption.
