Lesson idea implementation: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? How will student learning be assessed? How will
the final product be used to inform/differentiate learning? How will you extend the student learning to a
higher learning level? How will you conclude the lesson? How will you provide feedback to students about
their work? MINIMUM 2 paragraph overview.
The video will be shown in the beginning of class to show students different places they see triangles in the
real-world. After showing the video students will be asked if they have any other ideas of where triangles
exist in the world. Talk about people who use these shapes, such as architects to create buildings. Architects
have to pay attention to the area a specific object takes up when making their plans. Use this to lead into
starting the lesson on finding the area of triangles, and complete real-world application problems involving
some of the examples we saw in the video. After talking about area, students will be asked to come up with
their own real-world application problem and present their ideas and solutions to the class. Their
presentation can be done in any form they wish (PowerPoint, moviemaker, posteretc). Have the students
present their final product to the class.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tool critical to the project? Could the project
be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology,
if any, are going to be used in the learning experience?
This video allows the students to see evidence of triangles in the real world and provides an introduction to get
get their minds thinking about the topic. Without the video the students would have to come up with their

own examples without having and leads of what that means. I just think its interesting to show them triangles
they may have never thought of before that they see every day.

Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (Whether in part
or whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding Internet safety and
student privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain how you would (1)
minimize risks to students/yourself; (2) alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and (3) follow common
Internet Safety/Acceptable Use Policies.
Teachers should be careful to avoid using copyright materials in their videos. When students are building their
videos make sure to show them how to find images and audio that are available for use. Also be careful to not
include any personal information about the students if their video is going to be published on a class website.
This will ensure student privacy. Before allowing the students online a consent form should be signed by the
parents/ guardians allowing their student to participate. The letter should inform them of the assignment and
the use of the internet in the classroom.
