Title: How to Make Twine Balls (Abaca Balls)

Specific Purpose: To demonstrate to the audience on how to make twine balls.

Thesis: To teach the audience on how small ropes or twine can be used to decorate our
homes.

I. Introduction
A. Do you like balls? Do you like decorating your home to your hearts content?
Then I have a fun and exciting activity that will both encompass your
infatuation with balls and your godly art skills, and take it to the next level.
B. Twine balls are string ornaments used to fill empty space in your homes and
even in events like weddings or birthdays.
C. Doing this project will take us back to our elementary or high school days
when everything was still perfect and easy.
D. To start off, I will show the materials needed and the four basic steps in
making twine balls: making the glue mixture, applying the glue, wrapping the
balloon, and drying the ball.
II. Body
A. First things first, we must prepare the materials needed for the project.
1. First, we need glue. It does not matter what brand but do not use
strong adhesives like Mighty Bond.
2.We also need a balloon. Shape does not matter.
3.We also need water for the glue mixture.
4.Lastly, we need scissors and 5 feet of twine.
B. First step is to make the glue mixture.
1.Mix glue and water in a 1:1 ratio. This will make the glue less
concentrated and easier to work with when applying it to the twine.
2.Mix till there are no more lumps.
C. The next step is to apply the glue to the twine.
1.Gently dip the twine to the glue mixture. You dont want a messy
workstation.
2.Use your forefinger and your thumb to remove the excess glue in the
twine.
D. The next step is to wrap the twine to the balloon.
1.There is no right way of wrapping the balloon with the twine. Instead,
make sure that the gaps between the strings are not bigger than one
inch.
2.After reaching the end of the twine, dab the two ends of the twine with
a layer of glue to make sure that the twine does not run.
E. Last step is to dry the balloon.
1.Place the balloon in a cool and dry place. Dont place it in direct
sunlight.
2.Cover it with a plastic sheet to avoid dust from sticking to the ball.
III. Conclusion
A. Today I showed you how to make twine balls.
B. Make sure to share this project to your friends and family so that they will
experience playing with balls and white sticky stuff.
