The RPPF Form

You will be graded on your abilities to reflect on your work. This will be done through the
RPPF form, and you can receive a maximum of 6 marks out of 34 for this component. The
RPPF form that you will use will be filled in online on Managebac, in the Extended essay
room (The official one where you submitted your request for a supervisor). Make certain that
you save a copy on your computer as well. Just in case. Your 3 reflections should reach up
to 500 words in total. This means that you could use 150 words each for the first and second
reflection and save 200 words for the final reflection.
The first reflection is scheduled to April when we are also to meet and do the First reflection
session, the second one in September and the third one in November-December.
(The teacher will us maximum 600 words for their comments on your work.)

Session 1: First reflection c. 150 words


Reflect on:
What topic are you interested in investigating? (TOPIC)
Why are you interested in this research topic?
What do you want to find out? (RESEARCH QUESTION)

How are you going to find it out? (METHODOLOGY)


Why did you select these methods and approaches?

Are there sufficient sources available? (BACKGROUND READING)


Are there any safety, ethical or environmental issues that need to be considered? (SAFETY
& ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS)
Why is it important to investigate this?
When will you do the experiments) (PLANNING).

What exactly do you want to find out?
Are there other studies on this topic?
Have they been easy to find?
Have you drafted a possible research question?

Session 2 c. 150 words


Reflect on:
Do you need to change your research question in any way?
Do you have enough research data, or do you need more?
Do you need to do further experiments?
Have you analysed your data?
How did you undertake your research?
Did your approach or strategies change throughout the process?
If you changed approach or strategies during the process, why did you do this?
What challenges have you faced so far and what strategies have you used to overcome
these?
What do need to do now to complete this research?
Have you got sufficient with sources of different kinds (scientific journals, books, interviews?
Have you managed to answer the research question?
What do you plan to do to finish the essay?
Have you considered the formal layout and presentation of your essay?

Have you found sufficient with sources to compare your results with?

Session 3 c. 200 words

What can you conclude from your research?
Were the strategies you used for undertaking the research the most appropriate for
achieving your outcomes?
What went well?
Have your ideas changed since you started?
What decisions would you reconsider?

What knowledge have you gained?

How has writing the essay made you grow as a learner?

What skills and/or understanding have you developed? (like Time-managing, Self-
Management, Research, Thinking, Social Skills, Communication)

What would you do differently if you were to undertake this again?

What new questions have emerged because of your research?

What was the most rewarding aspect of the entire process?

How will this experience prepare you for future work of this nature (in college or
employment)?
