Democratic Candidate for Greece Supervisor Jim Leary

Files Complaint with the Town of Greece Ethics Board
July 27, 2017 (Rochester, NY) Democratic Candidate for Supervisor Jim Leary filed a complaint with
the Town of Greece Ethics Board regarding recent disturbing allegations that Supervisor Bill Reilich and
Greece Department of Public Works (DPW) Commissioner Kirk Morris used Town of Greece facilities to
conduct Monroe County Republican Party meetings during work hours.

In his recently filed lawsuit, Greece Town Justice Gino Nitti indicated that Bill Reilich and Kirk Morris
asked him to come to a meeting at Greece Town Hall during business hours to inform him that they were
not supporting him for re-election, said Leary. Judge Nittis court filing confirms what many have long
suspectedBill Reilich is conducting political party business at Town Hall during business hours.

Leary has filed a complaint with the Town of Greece Ethics Board asking them to investigate the incidents
described in Judge Nittis lawsuit and determine if a violation of the Towns ethics law has occurred.

Several key members of Greece Town Hall staff hold additional political positions, the intermingling of
which may have led to this abuse of government property: Supervisor Reilich also serves as Monroe
County Republican Party Chair, New York State Republican Committee Member, and Vice Chair of the
State Republican Committee; Town DPW Commissioner Kirk Morris serves as Greece Republican
Leader; Town Attorney Brian Marianetti serves as Majority Leader of the Monroe County Legislature and
Chairman of the Greece Republican Committee; and Michele Marini, Greece Deputy Supervisor, serves
as Treasurer of the Greece Republican Committee and is a State Republican Committee member.

The law is quite clear Bill Reilich cannot use Town Hall as his political clubhouse. The conference
room used by Bill Reilich is not accessible to the public and it is totally inappropriate that he and his
associates would use it for political purposes, especially while on the clock of their taxpayer-funded jobs,
added Leary. Since Judge Nittis revelation, multiple town employees have reached out to me to express
their frustration that political business being conducted at Town Hall is nothing new. There must be a
separation between politics and governing.
