Some of you may not know or may have forgotten we have an official web-site supported by your West Park
View Commuuity League. Ross Creecy has maintained this site for several years now. Please give it a look at
http://www.westparkview.com. The newsletter is put on this site every month along with other information
regarding our neighborhood. While Facebook is fun and you basically can say what you want to say, the
Community League does not support Facebook. If you have something you would like to share on the web site,
contact rcreecy@hotmaii.com. Kathy Cary.
A HEALTHIER PORTSMOUTH
We would like your help in the effort to make Portsmouth a healthier place to live. You are invited to attend
one of two sets of forums - July 20 th with a follow up meeting on July 27 th (which obviously we missed) or
August 10th with a follow lip meeting on August 1711'. You'll need to RSVP to CINCH@evDls.edu. Please
indicate which meeting series you'll be attending. Brarulon Godfrey, Deputy City Manager ·
THE BruCKS ARE HERE! We have finally received our brick order. Please allow us some time to get
them in and then come down to our park to see the new ones. These bricks look great in front of our sign and
really give a nice touch to our park. In the future, we will have two brick orders a year. They will be sent in on
February 1st with installation in March and September 1st with installation in October. Please have your brick
orders in before the 1st. The price of a brick is $50.00. If you would like to order a brick with our September
order we will have order forms available at the meeting or call Jan at 399-3563.
BEAUTIFICATION
Front entrance monitor for August is Richard Brown. Thank you to Jinl Moore for monitoring in July.
Judges will be around the last week of the month through October. Let's get those hands dirty and our yards
beautified.
Please remember to care for your adopt-a-~pot through the hot summer months.

Dear neighbors, In keeping with our mission of maintaining our neighborhood's beauty, we have received
permission from the city to help them by having volunteers trim back the suckers that grow from the root stock
of our Crepe' Myrtle trees. These are the shoots that spring from the ground all around the main trunk. The
trees have a much more regal appearance when there is one main trunk. This harms the tree in no way. These
shoots can be trimmed off at any time they appear. Neighborhood volunteers have begun trirnming trees only on
city property (between sidewalk and street). If you prefer to attend to your own trees, that would be wonderful!
Thank you for your cooperation. Donna Wooley
