Explanation on the attributes of the Manipura Chakra

05 Location Manipura Chakra is located 2 inches above the navel i.e. stomach area (outside our
physical body)
06 Description 10 petalled yellow lotus; inside there is an inverted fiery red triangle representing
of Chakra fire; below the triangle there is a ram (male sheep).
07 Mudra Pl. see the picture in the previous page for the Manipura Chakra Mudra i.e. keep
your hands before your stomach 2 inches above the navel. Let the fingers join at
the tips, all pointing away from you. Cross the thumbs and straighten the fingers.
08 Colour Yellow colour accelerates our mental activities. If you have been, by any chance,
disliking yellow colour in your life, or you do not have any specific liking for yellow
colour, please change your idea. From now onwards please develop a taste/liking
for yellow colour also and this will help you to do a qualitative meditation on the
Manipura Chakra and derive optimum benefits.
09 Element Fire (small fire- havan/yajna) While meditating, i) be aware of a small fire like
10 Karmendriya (action organs) Feet
havan/yajna. ii) this fire is beneficial and not burning
11 Dhatu Flesh
12 Janendriya (sense organ) Eyes you at all iii) fire is at Manipura chakra region only and

neither below nor above , iv) this fire is similar to our

digestive fire in the stomach and heat regulation of
our body, visualise that v) your feet becomes strong
vi) eye sight improves.
13 Vayu Samana Vayu. Manipura Chakra controls samana vayu (a type of gas flowing
outside our physical body) which digests and distributes the essence of food to our
entire body.
14 Animal Ram (male sheep) which is known for its dynamism and indomitable endurance.
15 God Lord Rudra, a form of Lord Shiva (here God/Goddess are not like husband & wife)
16 Goddess Lakini or Lakshmi (Pl. see picture of Goddess Lakshmi in the previous page)
17 Mantra RAM (to be pronounced as rum)
Step by Step Meditation Techniques
(the numbers given in bold in this table are not serial numbers; they denote the serial no.s of
the previous two tables in this article, giving your further reference)
Please sit in a meditative posture 1, close your eyes, locate the Manipura chakra in your body 5,
visualize its description 6, and do the Manipura Chakra Mudra 7 (please keep the eyes closed,
remain in the meditative posture with the mudra through out)
Please have deep and long inhaling and exhaling through the nose for 3 times, concentrating on the
Manipura chakra
At the Manipura chakra region, please be aware of fire element 9 (a small fire like havan/yajna, etc)
the fire is not burning you at all and the fire flames are in golden yellow colour 8, and also the
corresponding fire element in your body like digestive fire/heat regulation , and visualize that your
feet 10, are functioning well, your eye sight 12 improves and samana vayu 13, digestive/heat
system is functioning well.
Please visualise the animal Ram (male sheep) 14, Lord Rudra (a form of Shiva) 15, Goddess Lakini
or Lakshmi 16, and worship them to solve your problems (however without any disturbance in your
meditative posture)
Please chant the Manta RAM 17 mentally, without making any sound

(e.g.) A little child playfully makes frequent attempts to go out of its mothers control. But the
mother always keep her eyes on the child and untiringly makes all attempts to bring the child
within her safe control. While meditating, whenever your mind wanders away, like the untiring
mother, please bring in your wandering mind under your control, i.e. concentration/meditation.
While meditating, please remember/be aware of as much attributes (of the chakra) as possible.
A small variation in the order of remembering the attributes is permissible.
Please 1st meditate on the Mooladhara Chakra for about 3 minutes and then 2 nd meditate on the
Swadishtana Chakra for about 3 minutes and 3 rd meditate on Manipura Chakra for about 3
minutes. After that again meditate on Swadishtana Chakra for about minute and Mooladhara
Chakra for about minute and then wind up the meditation.
Symbolic representation of the Chakras, pictures of God, Goddess, animal, etc are given from
the available resources. Readers are welcome to have their own pictures/imaginations, if they
