Abstract
Batteries have an important role in the development of
energy needs. Good battery performance, will support the device it
supports. Improper charge and discharge processes can cause
decreased battery performance. Therefore, a battery management
system is required in the PLTS so that batteries avoid the cause of
frequent damage that is charging or the use of uncontrolled
batteries. The basic thing in a Battery Management System (BMS)
is to avoid overcharging and discharging the battery. Based on
some tests performed show that BMS works well because the
automatic charging stops when the battery voltage is greater with
the voltage output voltage of the control circuit. Likewise when the
battery voltage reaches 12.4 Volt, the relay will actively disconnect
the current from the battery to the load. When the charging voltage
process exceeds 14.7 V then the relay will disconnect the current
from the solar panel to the battery. The charging process on PLTS
has been made capable of reaching a voltage of 13.5 V with a
length of charging 21 hours with the time of charging around the
clock, while the discharging process with a maximum load of 1 A
can reach 12.6 V voltage takes 10 hours from the voltage range
13,2 V to 12.6 V.
