Psoriasis Cause, Types and Symptoms:

At presents the researcher from various epidemiological studies on psoriasis, has found the
incidence of psoriasis among total skin patients ranged between 0.44 and 2.2%, with overall
incidence of 1.02% in India. Psoriasis is a non-infectious, inflammatory disease by well-defined
erythematous (reddish) plaques with large adherent silvery scales. It increases proliferation of the
skin layers due to excessive division of the cell and rapidly and travel from the basal layer to the
surface of the skin. The skin cannot shed these cells quickly enough therefore they build up, leading
to thick and dry patches. Silvery, flaky areas of dead skin build up on the surface of the Skin. The
skin layer underneath, that contains the nerves and blood which becomes red and swollen.
Psoriasis can develop at any age but very often it develops at the ages of 15 to 35. It is not
contagious so people cant catch from each other also its lesions arent infectious. As per the case
study males & females have developed psoriasis at equal rates. It also occurs in all racial groups, but
varying rates are different. Usually, people dont know the immune system and genetics play major
roles in its development therefore their skin cells grow at an abnormally fast rate, which causes the
buildup of psoriasis disease. Lets know more about its causes.

Psoriasis Causes:
People do not know what exactly causes of psoriasis, our Illustration showing how psoriasis
develops because the cause of psoriasis isn't fully understood. It has found that its related to an
immune system problem with T-cells & white blood cells of your body. T-cells travel through the
body to defend against the bacteria. In case of psoriasis, the T-cells attack healthy skin cells
mistakenly. Apart from it T-cells also trigger increased production of healthy skin cells and other
white blood cells. These cells travel into the skin causing redness and pus in pustule lesions. The
process becomes an ongoing cycle in which new skin cells move to the outermost layer of skin very
quickly. Skin cells build up in thick, scaly patches on the skin's surface, continuing until proper
treatment. However, T cells to malfunction in people with psoriasis arent entirely clear. Most of the
researcher believes that genetics and environmental both factors play a vital role in Psoriasis cause.
Not only could this several risk factors are the cause of psoriasis. Just have looks on these factors.

Risk factors of psoriasis:

These following factors can increase your risk of developing this disease; however it can be
increased by other triggers which we are going to discuss after knowing the most common factors
of psoriasis:

Family factors- Family history is one of the most remarkable risk factors. If any one of
parents having psoriasis, it increases your risk of getting the disease. Meanwhile if both
Mom & Dad are suffering then there is double risk of psoriasis disease.
Bacterial infections- HIV Patients are more likely to develop psoriasis in comparison to
other people having healthy immune systems. Adults & child with recurring infections can
increase its risk.
Stress level- Stress can impact your immune system; therefore high stress levels may
increase your risk of psoriasis disease.
Obesity- Body weight and risk of psoriasis increases together. Lesions associated with all
types of psoriasis develop in skin creases.
Smoking & drinking- Smoking and Drinking are not only increase the risk of psoriasis but
also increase the severity of the harmful diseases. These habits play a vital role in the initial
development of the psoriasis.

Psoriasis Symptoms:

Psoriasis symptoms are different for every patient but the common signs are as follows:

Red patches on the skin covered with thick, silvery scales

Small scaling spots
Cracked & dry skin sometime that bleeds
Itching and sometime soreness
Thickened, pitted or ridged nails
Swollen and stiff joints
Itchy plaques etc.
Psoriasis red patches can range from a few spots of dandruff-like scaling to major eruptions that
cover large areas through cycles, flaring for a few weeks. Thereafter subsiding for a time and going
into complete remission.

The type of psoriasis:

Knowing about the type of psoriasis can help anyone to recognize & determine the best treatment
for their types of psoriasis. There are five types of psoriasis most common in every country, are as
follows:-

1. Plaque Psoriasis- It is the most common form of the disease and appears as raised. In Plaque
Psoriasis, red patches covered with a silvery white that buildup by dead skin cells. These plaques
most often appear on the scalp, knees and elbows. This type of disease can be itchy, painful, and
can also crack & bleed.

2. Guttate Psoriasis - This psoriasis appears as small, dot-like lesions. It often starts in childhood
or in adulthood .It is the second-most common type of psoriasis and around 10% people psoriasis
patients develop guttate psoriasis.

3. Inverse- It shows up as red lesions in body folds, like behind the knees, under the arms and in
the groin. A psoriasis patient may have many type of psoriasis at the same time, anywhere on the
body.

4. Pustular psoriasis - This is characterized by white pustules surrounded by red skin on the pus
consists of white blood cells. It is not an infectious & contagious but can occur on any part of the
body, most often on the hands & feets.

5. Erythrodermic- this psoriasis leads to widespread, fiery redness over most of the body parts. It
cause itching and pain, it is occurring in 3 percent of people who have psoriasis. Generally it
appears on people who are having unstable plaque psoriasis disease.

Psoriasis is a common dermatological disorder not only in India but in the world also. There is
paucity of data related to Indian psoriasis patients on its genetics, pustular psoriasis, Guttate
psoriasis, disease severity, remission patterns and its associations. More research and prospective
studies need to be done to delineate the natural course of psoriasis. Prevention of psoriasis has
barely been studied. A prerequisite are identified in a consistent and reliable way. However, it is
crucial in common chronic diseases where causative psoriasis treatment available with Kayakalp
