MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMS IN INDIA SINCE 1997

About Us
Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago (IIT C) USA is offering a few Masters Degree Programs in India, as offered in
Campus at Chicago, since 1997. Students pursuing the Masters program, get the same degree as Campus students, with
similar placement opportunities.
Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago (IIT-C) is a Ph.D. granting, private First Tier PhD granting Research
University in Chicago, USA established in 1890. The university is well known for its Interaction with Industries. It has its
own research Center, called IIT Research Institute (IITRI). IIT-C offers dozens of accredited programs in Engineering,
Science, Architecture, and Business & Law etc in Chicago. IIT-C is the leader in class room teaching to remote students from
Chicago Campus, since 1976. With GOVT of India approval, IIT-C established its wholly owned subsidiary, ILLINOIS
INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (I) PRIVATE LIMITED (IIT-I) and launched Information Technology related Master
Degree Programs in India in August 1997. Subsequently, Other Masters Degree programs were added.
We have more than 35 companies participating in our programs like, Motorola, Honeywell, Oracle, Godrej, Sasken, Kirloskar,
Cisco, Juniper, Networks, Phillips, Qualcomm, IBM, Intel, Verisign, Indicus Software, Tektronix, Tech Mahindra, Adobe
etc. since 1997.

Accreditation
IIT Chicago is accredited by the North Central Association (NCA) of Colleges and Secondary Schools in USA. Specific
professional curricula are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission and the Computing Accreditation
Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Teaching Methodology And Examinations:

Teaching is done from a CLASS ROOM IN CHICAGO CAMPUS. All Courses (called as Subjects in India) are entirely taught
by professors in Chicago campus, using Hi-Tech E learning Technologies. Professors usually teach about 20 students spread
in 4 sections, Campus Classroom, IITV remote sites in Chicago, Internet section in US and India Internet section.

For each course, one lecture of 3 Hrs per week (referred as 3 CREDIT HRS) is conducted for 14 to 16 weeks. Lecture as
delivered in classroom is uploaded in Internet in about 24 Hours. Students anywhere in the world can attend these lectures
by logging on to BLACK BOARD with a unique user name and Password and such lectures can be watched anytime of the
day and any number of times. Doubts if any are raised through E mail to Professors and get answered quickly. Students can
discuss issues with professors, in Video / Audio conference mode, with prior notice. Students in India section do the same
assignments and projects and also write the same examinations as campus students do. All these get evaluated at Campus by
the professor concerned and grades are announced. View a Demo Lecture here

Occasionally LIVE-ON-SITE courses are organized where in a professor from IIT (Chicago) visits India and conducts LIVE
classes. Masters program can be attended completely in India or in Chicago, or partly in India and rest in Chicago.
For Professional Masters program, a student is expected to successfully complete 10 Courses, each of 3 Credit Hours.

Few salient features would be

1. Same professors teaching the courses, evaluating same exams & assignments. View of Demo Lecture Here
Hybrid Option: In any of the Masters programs offered online, admitted students can transfer to Campus after
completing a part in India. IIT ranks #1 in best return on investment for all universities in Illinois as per 2014 Payscale
College ROI Report
2. You can study at your own pace anywhere anytime and number of times, without duplicating the cost.
3. You NEED NOT sacrifice your Career or family routine.
4. Subsidized tuition fee - In Campus a course (called as subjects in India) of 3 credits would cost you $3,939 (Only Tuition
fee, does not include other expenses) while the same course of 3 credits would cost you $1428, less than half. You are
required to 10 courses (Subjects) for Masters. YOU PAY AS AND WHEN YOU TAKE A COURSE.
5. More than 35 companies sponsor their engineers for these programs
2

6. Can be done without having to visit US.

7. These programs, which fill a major gap in the higher education curriculum

Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) 32 credits
The Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) is designed to prepare students for a Ph.D. program or a
research/development career in industry in the field of Computer Science. Students in the MSCS program can choose to
do a Masters Thesis, Masters Project, or coursework-only. The MSCS degree does not offer specializations, and MSCS
students are not allowed to apply CS Professional courses toward graduation. There is no masters comprehensive exam.
A full-time student whose bachelor degree was in computer science can complete the MSCS program in four semesters or
in three semesters plus two summer semesters. A student without a bachelor's degree in computer science may require
extra time to make up deficiencies in prerequisite undergraduate coursework

Graduate CS classes are offered during the day and evening, and both day-only and evening-only student schedules can
be accommodated. Students can complete an MSCS through IIT Online: Classes can be taken entirely through on-
demand Internet, without ever visiting the IIT campus.

In general, for admission into the MSCS program, prospective students need a bachelor's degree (not necessarily in
computer science) and are required to submit a transcript, GRE and possibly TOEFL scores. For more information about
this program, contact Vida Winans.

Graduate Certificate in Computer Science
The graduate certificate program offers students opportunities to learn specialized areas of Computer Science. Working CS
professionals can increase their knowledge and skills, and students new to computer science can study without committing
to an entire degree program. Distance students can complete a certificate without visiting campus, through IIT Online,
using on-demand Internet and live interactive TV. (Course content and credit for online and live classes are the same.)

A student who completes a certificate and then applies for and is admitted to a Master's program in CS may apply course
credits from the certificate to the Master's degree. All courses for a certificate must be taken at IIT courses from other
universities cannot be transferred.

Students with bachelor's degrees not in computer science may be required to take CS 201 and CS 401to remedy deficiencies
in their CS background: These courses supply the programming experience and knowledge of data structures required for
further study. Potential applicants with questions about their background should contact a department advisor to discuss
their possible needs.
