Geologists will analyze the surface characteristics of the area, terrain, stones and soil types, as well
as Earth's magnetic and gravitational fields.
Several methods are used to perform a seismic study, in which the shock waves are sent through
the ground layers in the subsoil to be analyzed later.
If the area is in the water, place buoys around. Use GPS coordinates to mark the designated points
and use them at the time of drilling.
Obtain permits, legal agreements, titles, etc. Necessary to be able to drill the area. It measures the
impact drilling will have on the environment.
Make sure there are water sources nearby as they will be needed for drilling.
If there are no natural water sources, you will need to drill a well of water.
This will serve to place the rocks and mud resulting from the drilling.
Rocks and sludge should be removed outside the area in case the drilling occurs in a sensitive
ecological area.
Dig a rectangular hole, close to the drill point, to make it the working space for the drill rig.
Drill the main hole with an oil rig, but stop before reaching the location of the oil trap.
Establish the mouth, neck and drill pipe in the hole, and attach the Kelly drill pipe and turntable (the
system that pumps the sludge). Start the drilling and remove the rocks from the hole.
You can drill hundreds or thousands of feet deep before reaching the oil trap. As you drill deeper,
you will need more pipes and liners.
It pumps cement and drains the sludge through the pipe with a grout of cement and a bottom plug.
The cement will move through the liner tube and fill the area between the outside of the liner and
the hole. Let the cement harden.
Stop drilling when debris from the rocks has signs of tar sand on the rock of the reservoir.
It takes samples of rock, measures the pressure and lowers the gas sensors in the hole to
determine if the reservoir has already been reached.
Place the pipe into the hole for oil and gas to rise through it.
Connect a multi-valve structure (called "Christmas Tree") to the top of the pipe.
