Suitable Vehicle Verified Comments
Vehicle load carrying capacity is not exceeded.
Vehicle design suitable for the type of load carried.
Vehicle carrying long loads should be long enough to avoid excessive
overhang and to ensure good weight distribution for vehicle stability.
The overall height of a loaded vehicle must not exceed the height of any
obstruction (eg. bridge or overhead wire) likely to be encountered on a
journey and the legal limit.
Open vehicles designed for carrying loose bulk material must be fitted with a
cover.
Load position
A load should be positioned so that its centre of mass is as low as possible
and not offset to one side of the vehicle.
* The load should not project from the sides or rear of a vehicle.
The heavier items should be placed nearer to the centre line of the vehicle
and the lighter ones towards the sides.
Larger and heavier items should be placed at the bottom (with taken in
consideration which items are unloaded first)
Weak crushable items are placed on top of strong items to prevent damage
during heavy braking.
A load is arranged so its centre of mass is in front of the centre of the rear
axle
A load with potentially dangerous projection is placed to minimize the risk to
the driver or any other person, in the event of the load shifting during braking
or a collision.
Posts are strong and properly secured.
Dunnage shows no cracking and placed on its narrow face.
Tie-down lashings, chains, straps should be properly placed to eliminate
weight movement.
Load Restraint equipments
Latches secured and tied down.
Visual Inspection? to ensure a good working condition and correct weight
Shackles, latches, ropes, slings, chains
*overhang limit :1 to 2 meter , side projection limit:300 mm
Offloading
Vehicle is standing on a flat surface
Offloading plan is communicated to crew and ensure available storage place
Minimum number of people are in place with third party barriers
Load secured properly and not shifted during journey
Loosen the load with extreme care
