. Children transitioning into school must be able to adapt to new changes in order

to succeed. Adults play a crucial role in helping children to adapt to these changes, and

its important for both teachers and parents to be engaged in a childs life and help them

prepare. Adaptation problems are common with children and are identified through 4

levels; the most problematic level being maladaptation. Maladaptation can be hard to

identify and is caused by various situations. Although there is no universal model for

helping solve adaptation problems, studies show that adaptation programmes are a

possible solution. These programs help prepare children for school in an entertaining

way. The adaptation programmes have been successful in Russia and are inspiring oth-

er countries struggling with adaptation problems.

ProQuest Dissertations

Wendy J. Snodgrass

2015

A study was conducted on whether or not college athletes develop leadership

skills as a result of participating in athletics, and if these skills make an impact in their

lives after college. A literature part conducted in the study analyzed the history of col-

lege athletes, the leadership development in students, and the theoretical foundations

which were provided by 3 previous researchers. A qualitative study involving basketball

players from the NCAA was also done to determine leadership skills. The analysis from

the qualitative study showed demographics, examined Kanters four skills to be suc-

cessful, and examined if being an athlete in college impacted their lives after graduat-

ing. The results of the study showed that leadership skills are developed and improved

through college athletics, and that being involved in athletics helped prepare them for

life after college.

Casey Mace

Journal Article

2016

A study was done to determine possible risks and benefits of participating in hot

yoga. The study recruited people online where they were then asked to participate in a

survey which required them to report their experiences while doing hot yoga. The infor-

mation from the survey was collected from an online software where participants were

asked questions having to do with their instructors and a report of their personal positive

and negative health reactions while doing hot yoga. In the conducted results common

health benefits were reported among participants such as increased flexibility and better

moods. Negative reactions commonly found among participants were dizziness and

light headedness. Although this study did determine some of the possible benefits and
risks of doing hot yoga, more research still needs to be done to determine possible rea-

sons that caused these outcomes.
