Director’s Message

Asia-Pacific Institute of Management Studies (AIMS) is one of the best B-Schools of India. We at
AIMS believe in nurturing the future of students and maintaining industry interface continuously.
Students are trained to develop value system for commitment, integrity, courage and dedication
to initiate and manage changes. Since managerial leadership requires excellent functional
skills and balanced global outlook, we at AIMS strive to achieve the same by continuously
updating the course curriculum and creating competent management professional, who can
transform the future of business at global level. Students are regularly assessed and counseled
using individualized psychometric profiling, team building and leadership exercises.
This two year PGPM programme is one of the best in the country. It has 40 courses and
132 credits with 2 months’ summer internship and a terminal dissertation. The students also
acquire an MBA from a UGC recognized university simultaneously along with PGPM Degree.
Students are required to take up relevant industry projects as part of the PGPM Programme.
The summer internship programme of 8 weeks helps to increase the students’ perspective by
providing exposure to real life organizations and their mode of operations and problems.
Our students have participated in National Management Games of AIMA and have emerged as
regional winners. They have also participated in Business Plan Contests, Debates etc. in inter
institute management festivals.
The selection process for admission to PGPM is rigorous and students screened through CAT/
MAT/XAT are put through GD and PI process where industry area experts also participate in
the panel.
AIMS, as a nodal B-School of excellence, tries to improve the industry practice and though
dedicated research, consultancy and training activities by its highly capable faculty resources.
In the process, AIMS has developed into a model institute for quality education in management.
The final campus placement has been excellent in the past year and AIMS has been able to
meet the increasing demands of the business houses by providing resources that are valuable
on two different counts, namely in embodying new knowledge and skills and in generating
fresh outlooks, awareness and interests. During the placement process, the companies from
diverse sectors evaluate the students before committing a permanent appointment.

Our infrastructure is dynamic in nature because of our constant attempt to maintain pace with the development.
The infrastructure acts as a facilitator for the effective delivery of our curriculum.

Premises
AIMS has impressive facilities for addingoTe to the learningoexperience of the students. The campus is centrally
air-conditioned and has a friendly and rich ambience offeringostate-of-art facilities.

Computer Centre
Asia-Pacific Institute of Management Studies is equipped with all modern and state – of the art hardware and software
resources to enhance the skills and knowledge of the students. Computer Centre comprises of 300 Core2Duo high
performance latest nodes alongowith 17’’ colour monitors connected to high-end servers providingoadvanced
wired and wireless access to the campus. All machines loaded with advanced software such as Windows 2003,
XP-pro, Linux OperatingoSystems, compilers for languages like C, C++, JAVA, database management system
like ORACLE, and other package like MS office, Visual Studio, SPSS & MS Project etc. Advanced Networkingo
Technologies have been implemented to seamlessly integrate all the computers in Computer Labs. The entire
Campus is connected with Local Area Network (LAN)& Wireless network.
The Institute’s links with the rest of the world are through its own Internet facility (24x7) via 4 Mbps Leased Line.
Students use these resources of the Labs to design and develop cross platform applications. From capture of
media to production of CBTs and websites, AIMS Computer Lab has ample resources on both platforms for editingo
and creatingocontent by multimedia in computers and delivery via web.
Wi-Fi Enable Campus: For augmentation of learningoprocess, every faculty of the institute his equipped with a
laptop and those students have their own Laptops are also duly connected with Wi-Fi internet facility for surfing,
browsingoand exploringorious websites, At the same time our faculty members pass on assignment, topics for
presentation.

Lecture Theatres
Very high priority is attached to achievingooptimal convergence of stimulatingopedagogy and sensory comfort at
Asia-Pacific Institute of Management Studies. Consequently, dust-free and centrally air conditioned lecture theatres
are maintained here. They are equipped with fixed overhead LCDoprojection system. Each of the lecture theatres
is fitted with intelligent white boards. There are also several tutorial rooms for face-to-face interaction between the
faculty and learner.

Managerial Grooming…

Personality Development
To ensure students fitment in the global corporate culture, the Institute lays
special emphasis on personality grooming through presentations, public
speaking, mock interviews, aptitude tests and industry interactions. This
helps the students to develop capacity for analysis and judgment, ability
to relate to managerial problems and draw upon their own resources
for better understanding and meaningful action. Students, therefore, are
groomed to join the industry not as a mere Job earner, but to influence its
practices, and in the long run become an active participant in reshaping
the nation’s destiny. To facilitate the process, the Institute provides
for a mentoring programme and also organizes a range of activities
throughout the year under its various cells and clubs.

Mentoring and Counselling


It aims to provide professional advice and information to all students
to smoothen their entry to the corporate world. It offers personalized
counselling to students. About 15 students get attached to each faculty
member and senior professionals from industry who acts as their mentor
and counsellor throughout the duration of the program.

Clubs
The students of the Institute have set up clubs to encourage debates
as well as dissemination of latest development and practices in their
specialized areas of interest. These clubs known as the “Finance Club”,
“Marketing Club, operations club, IT club, and “HR Club” encourage
students to have a hands-on experience on how events are organized
besides enhancing their knowledge base.

Sports Club
To promote students’ interest in game and sports, the sports committee
organizes sports meet once a year and different matches and
tournaments are held throughout the year. The campus has facilities for
indoor and outdoor sports TT, carom, volleyball, cricket and football.

‘AIMS (E-Cell)’ is an initiative of the students of Asia-Pacific Institute
of Management Studies, New Delhi who get together to practice and

The Objectives of the Programme


Our Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) aims at:

Structure
The duration of the programme is two years. It comprises 40 subjects (28 compulsory and 12 electives) spread
during the entire span. Besides this, the students also pursue 8 to 10 weeks of summer project. In the first year
the students are only exposed to the core subjects and functional areas of management while the electives are
taken up in the second year. The syllabus is planned in tune with the requirements of the industry and trade in the
changing global economic environment.

Specialization and Electives


With the commencement of the third term of first year, the students will indicate the choice of area(s) of specialization
in second year. A student can opt for at most two streams of specialization in the programme. Dual specialization
will mean taking 12 elective courses, i.e., six courses from each of the streams.
