Sharks!!!!!!!!!!!
On Tuesday, at least
80,000 users shared a news
story and photo from an outlet
calling itself "break-
ingnews247.net" that indicated
a visiting fisherman had caught
a freshwater shark in Lake
Brownwood. The same story
indicated that people should
avoid the water at Lake
Brownwood and Lake Proctor
until an assessment could be
made regarding the presence of
more sharks.
By Tuesday afternoon,
Lake Brownwood State Park
issued a statement on its social
media page saying that the
story was fake: "No sharks in
Lake Brownwood," the State
Park's Facebook page said.
"Not now, not before, not ever.
The story is fake." According
to some social media users, the
same spurious photo and story
had been falsely circulated in
the past at Lake Lewisville.

That Ranger College is
attempting to annex Comanche
County into its taxing district is
one of those things.

College want to annex
Comanche County?
Because maybe 100 high
school students across the
county take a few freshman
English classes? Or because
they have a run-down storefront

Texas," 42 developed about
1887 just up the road in Parker
County as an alternative to
card-playing, which was
frowned upon by devoutly reli-
gious Texans.
Off is open to everyone, and
desserts may be any type as
long as it contains peaches.
Anyone wishing to enter the
bake-off needs to have their
entries at the festival grounds
by 12:00 noon. Judging to fol-
low.
If youre interested in bid-
ding on any of the beautiful
fruits and vegetables grown by
goers can gain admission to the
festival grounds with two cans
of canned food or un-perishable
food items. That night, Kenny
Orts will perform at the festival
stage at 9 p.m. A $10 admission
fee will be charged.
On Friday and Saturday
nights, the TTTPA and OTTPA
tractor pulls will begin at 7:30
p.m. each night at the festival
arena. On Friday night, Dj Javi
& Light Show will perform at
the festival stage at 9 p.m. with
in the town of Comanche where
they hold a few vocational
classes.
In the mind of Ranger
College, I assume these two
facts give them the idea that
Comanche County taxpayers
should be on the hook for
$884,813.

will have to pay to Ranger
College if they annex
Comanche County into

Hospital district votes to
move retirement plans to
new company
The Board of Directors of
the Comanche County
Consolidated Hospital District
met in their regular monthly
meeting on Tuesday, and dis-
cussed changing the manage-
ment of retirement plans for
district employees.
Board members George
Bingham, Kim Lampman,
Marvin McKinnon, and
President Barbara Williams
were present, while Gil Gilbert
and Joe Locke were absent
from the meeting.
Lea Anne Porter made a
presentation to the board
regarding Texas Hospital
Association retirement plans,
and proposed moving the
retirement plans from the hos-
pital district to their plan.
Currently, the district's
retirement plans are handled by
Brighthouse Financial, who
apparently took over the plans
from Met Life, who no longer
has interest in retirement plans,
it was said.
Porter said that the THA
plans would charge lower fees,
and would allow employees to
make more decisions about
their retirement accounts. Also
according to Porter, the custo-
dian is Charles Schwab, while
Aon Hewitt will assume the
fiduciary liability. A board of
directors will meet quarterly
with Aon to make recommen-
dations about investments.
The THA retirement plan
comes with broad support that
keeps documentation current,
ensures best practices, and
helps design plans to meet
employee needs. The plans
also come with a network of
attorneys and investment advi-
sors who are able to take the
burden of running a retirement
plan off the hospital district, it
was further noted.
Board President Barbara
Williams indicated that the
board needed to make a deci-
sion to move the retirement
plan from Met Life, and that
the THA plan was one of the
options.

McKinnon both asked if the
board would be able to hear a
presentation from any other
company.
"We feel like this is the
best option," said Comanche
Take advantage of the
annual tax free weekend
before school starts
The annual tax-free week-
end is back just in time for
class. Sixteen states are taking
part in the back-to-school sales
tax holiday, and Texas is on the
list.
The Texas comptrollers
office has announced the sales
tax holiday for the weekend of
Aug. 11-13. Most school sup-
plies, clothing, footwear and
backpacks are not subject to
sales tax.

County Medical Center human
resources administrator Karena
Hindman.
"This is the best possible
option," added district CEO
Dave Freshour.
Bingham then made a
motion for the district to move
retirement plans to THA.
Lampman seconded the
motion. All approved.
In other news, the board
approved the paper copy of the
district's 2016 Audit, which
was presented by Durban and
Company last month. The audit
revealed significant financial
and administrative improve-
ment over previous years, and
was heartily approved.
The board also approved a
short financial report that indi-
cated that EMS revenue was
$10,000 below budget, but also
that the district was $15,000
below budget on total expenses
for the month of June.
CEO Dave Freshour
reported that repairs to the hos-
pital roof had been completed,
and that the new roof came
with a warranty.
Steve Sanford then pro-
vided an EMS report for June.
Sanford said that EMS
responded to 114 calls with 103
resulting in transports.
"We're doing good,"
Sanford said.
Sanford also reported that
he had received two quotes for
constructing a carport at the
DeLeon EMS station to protect
the ambulance stationed there.
The quotes came in from
David Gilder and Ronnie
Stanley. However, the quotes
could not be compared against
each other directly, as each was
slightly different in scope. The
matter was tabled until more
information could be received
from the contractors.
The board also tabled a
discussion about the district's
tax rate for next year, as infor-
mation was not yet available
from the county.
With no other business,
the board adjourned until the
next meeting of the Comanche
County Consolidated Hospital
District Board of Directors,
which, due to a fixed timetable
for tax rate decisions, will like-
ly be a called meeting some-
time in August.
Texas law exempts most
clothing, school supplies,
footwear and backpacks priced
less than $100 from sales and
use taxes, which the comptrol-
ler website says could save
people about $8 on every $100
spent. The sales tax exemption
for the state of Texas also
includes items online, mail or
telephone.

ships or sponsorships of youth
sports teams and school trips, if
they have to bear the burden of
a million dollar theft? Since
this is supposed to be about
kids, what will it cost our chil-
dren?
Think about this... last
year, DeLeon businesses and
individuals contributed about
$50,000 in scholarships to
graduating seniors from
DeLeon High School. The cost
of Ranger's College Tax would
hit these businesses dispropor-
tionately. Even for a small busi-
ness person, the Ranger
College tax could easily cost
$200 next year. That's $200
that small businesses will be
forced to take from somewhere
to pay Ranger's taxes.
Hopefully, it wouldn't be from
DeLeon students, but there is
little discretionary spending in
these trying economic times.
What will it cost your eld-
erly? Will Comanche County's
senior citizen centers be able to
ask the county and cities for the
things they need, if the county
and cities know that local tax-
payers are facing a million dol-
lar tax burden that goes specif-
ically for the benefit of
Ranger? Could our elderly lose
their home delivered meals
because the tax base is spread
thinner and thinner?
Considering the difficulty in
funding these programs in nor-
mal times, it is not unreason-
able to be concerned about an
entirely new tax and its larger
effect on taxpayers.
Will it cost you your busi-
ness or your job? Taxes are
expenses, and for a business
operating on the margins any-
way, more expenses result in
more cuts. The evidence of this
is all around, and I won't sugar-
coat it. Look at the empty
buildings in downtown
DeLeon. What used to be
there? What's not there any-
more? Everyone of you has
seen small businesses come
and go in the last few years.
They don't go away because
they want to, they go away
because of economic pressures
that they can't meet. A Ranger
College tax is just another eco-
nomic pressure, and not one
that benefits Comanche
County in any way.
On the other hand, what
will you gain? Maybe a 100 or
so students in Comanche
County will receive a break on
Ranger College tuition. And
maybe a few more vocational
classes will be made available
at the "old storefront in
Comanche."
Even figuring proposed
tuition savings for 100 Ranger
College dual credit students in
Comanche County, which
amounts to maybe $17,000 per
dual credit class (I can't say for
sure, I'm just using vague num-
bers that Campion has said at
public meetings), that's an
unequal trade.
In flat terms, even allow-
ing for multiple dual credit
classes per semester, that's like
Comanche County paying $18
for every $1 in benefits coming
from Ranger College.
It doesn't take a financial
wizard to figure out that paying
$18 for $1 worth of stuff is a
bad deal - in real terms, it's a
catastrophic deal.

That Ranger College
would try to sell us on this is an
admission that they think we
aren't smart enough to figure
that out. Which is beyond
insulting.
So who really benefits?
Ranger.
This isnt about your kids.
This is about Ranger, the town,
the college, the associated busi-
nesses, taking your money to
subsidize themselves.
That should be clear from
who is leading this effort.
Now, its obvious that Dr.
Bill Campion and his staff will
benefit from Ranger College
annexing Comanche County
into its taxing district.
It will keep them in a job.
Six years ago, the State of
Texas actively debated closing
down Ranger College.
Why?
Because it was a junior
college located in a small pop-
ulation county that had another
junior college located 20 miles
away at Cisco, also located in
Eastland County.
Ranger College was, and
is, redundant.
Why should taxpayers and
the State of Texas be forced to
fund two junior colleges in a
low population county?
That was the question that
the State of Texas asked.
Ranger College survived
that debate, but it wasnt long
before it took up an outsized
mission, opening and promot-
ing vocational campuses in
Erath and Brown County.
Make no mistake, Ranger
College spread to surrounding
more populous counties to
make it more difficult for the
state to shut them down.
And this leads directly to
the Ranger community itself.
Why is Houston V.
OBrien leading the Eastland
County committee that worked
to gather petition signatures for
the annexation vote in
November?
For those of you who do
not know Houston OBrien, he
is the owner and publisher of
Eastland County newspapers.
Is he just that much of a
believer in Ranger Colleges
educational mission?
Why would his front page
crow this week that Ranger
College had found the 3,000
signatures it needed to force
this annexation vote on
Comanche, Brown, and Erath
counties?
Does he really think that
Ranger College will benefit
Comanche County kids that
much?
Or is he supporting
Ranger Colleges efforts solely
for the benefit of the Eastland
County economy, like any con-
cerned newspaperman would.
Do 100 Comanche
County students who want
cheap tuition matter to Houston
OBrien, or is Houston
OBrien worried about the col-
lapse of Ranger College, and
the then probable collapse of
the City of Ranger?
Does he echo the senti-
ments that Ranger Mayor Joe
Pilgrim made two weeks ago,
when he told the Free Press that
without Ranger College, the
city of Ranger would dry up
and blow away.
This, from what I can tell,
is the motivation of Ranger and
Ranger College.
2017
They would take bread
from your childrens mouths,
and give it to their own.
Unfortunately, they have
enlisted a few Comanche
County voices to spread their
message.
OBrien quoted former
Comanche County ISD
Superintendent Rick Howard
on his front page last week.
According to OBriens news-
paper, Howard said Comanche
kids were leaving Comanche
County and not coming back.
Ranger College, he argued,
would provide better trained
workers to lure new businesses
to the area so that young people
might stay closer to home.
For a yearly million dollar
tax bill, thats just big talk.
That would mean that the
students of Comanche County
would somehow turn their intro
to welding class or freshman
English class from Ranger into
some magical well trained
worker status that would
entice a factory to move to
Comanche or DeLeon.
Anyone who has half a
brain knows that 20 kids with
intro to welding classes wont
bring an oilfield supply factory
to a town with 4,000 people or
2,500 people.
And is Ranger College
going to build a big shiny new
Comanche campus to serve a
county with only 500 high
school students?
Especially when Erath and
Brown counties already have
big campuses.
Nah, all thats just talk.
Deep down, we know that,
but, as they say, a fool and his
money are soon parted.
Now, Im not out to insult
Rick Howard. He has worked
with Ranger College for a good
while, I suspect. He has built
professional relationships with
Ranger personnel.
He probably feels like
Ranger is doing a good thing
for Comanche High School.
And, in Howards world,
that very well may be.
But the rest of us inhabit
another world - and that world,
if Howard gets his way, comes
with a million dollar price tag
that doesnt benefit Comanche
County in any substantive way,
and, in reality, harms every
small business, landowner, and
homeowner in the county.
There are about a million
reasons why I am against
Ranger Colleges annexation of
Comanche County.

Ignorance Is Bliss?
Many people seem to be
under the impression that the
less they know about God's will
and the fewer sins they realize
they are practicing, the easier
God will be on them on
Judgment Day. Such reasoning
could not be farther from the
truth. When Abraham and
Sarah traveled through Gerar,
Abimelech, king of Gerar, took
Abraham and Sarah's word that
Sarah was Abraham's sister, not
knowing that she was also his
wife. "And Abraham journeyed
from there to the South, and
dwelt between Kadesh and
Shur, and stayed in Gerar. Now
Abraham said of Sarah his
wife, She is my sister. And
Abimelech king of Gerar sent
and took Sarah" (Genesis
20:1,2). But despite
Abimelech's ignorance of
Sarah's marriage God held him
accountable for taking her and
required him to set it right. "

Although it may seem a
blessing at times to be ignorant
of our responsibilities before
God, the fact remains that they
are our responsibilities.
Choosing to remain ignorant of
God's will and refusing to study
God's word does not absolve
anyone from their responsibili-
ty to live God's will. "I beseech
you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that you pres-
ent your bodies a living sacri-
fice, holy, acceptable to God,
which is your reasonable serv-
ice. And do not be conformed
to this world, but be trans-
formed by the renewing of your
mind, that you may prove what
is that good and acceptable and
perfect will of God" (Romans
12:1,2). Likewise, just because
we turn our eyes away from
seeing that God condemns a
certain action does not mean
that we may participate in it
without fear of condemnation.
Spiritual ignorance is not bliss
at all. It is a serious gamble that

Eggs can be hard-broiled,
baked, or fried. Whether you
enjoy them as an omelet, scram-
bled, poached, sunny side-up, as
a salat topping, as an on-the-go
snack, or as part of a stir-fry,
you can find a place for eggs on
any menu. No matter how you
like your eggs prepared, they
provide vitamins A and B-12,
iron and riboflavin. Yet, theres
more. Eggs also contain
cholinewhich is an essential
nutrient for fetal brain develop-
ment and nerve tissue develop-
mentand lutein, which is
important to eye health. You
may have some concerns about
consuming eggs because of the
cholesterol content. It is impor-
tant to discuss cholesterol con-
sumption with your doctor, par-
ticularly if you have health
issues related to high choles-
terol and/or diabetes; however
the cholesterol in eggs is found
only in the yolks. Eliminating
the yolks can eliminate any cho-
lesterol-related concerns. For
safety concerns, eggs should
always be handled with care
and should not be washed.

Ingredients
4 large eggs
2 apples
8 cups of fresh Spinach
1 box raisins (or dried cranber-
ry)
1 cup whole-grain croutons
cup light dressing (your

To hard boil the eggs:
Place the eggs in a large
saucepan, cover the eggs by one
inch with cold water, heat over
high heat to boiling, remove
from heat and cover letting the
eggs stand for about 12 minutes,
drain and re-fill the pan with
cold water and let sit 10-15 min-
utes, peel and slice. (If making

Texas Water Smart Gazebo Dedicated in Pottsboro
The Texas Department of
Agriculture (TDA), City of
Pottsboro and Texas Water
Smart Foundation (TWS) are
pleased to announce the con-
struction of a gazebo at James
G. Thompson Park.
Pottsboro embodies the
best of rural Texas, said
Agriculture Commissioner Sid
Miller. The vision and focus
of city and community leaders
made this project possible, and
their efforts will enhance the
community by providing an
outdoor space where educa-
tional workshops and commu-
nity events can be hosted.
Pottsboro Mayor Frank
Budra said, "Pottsboro has
made a long-term commitment
to developing James G.
Thompson Park. This project
creates an open-air venue

visitors. I am proud of the vol-
unteers who have made this

department of agriculture and
the Texas Water Smart

The project is funded
through the U.S. Department of
Agricultures Specialty Crop
Block Grant program and was
implemented through a part-
nership among TDA, TWS, the
City of Pottsboro, and commu-
nity volunteers.
The City of Pottsboro was
awarded a Texas Water Smart
grant funded through the Texas
Department of Agriculture and
the U.S. Department of
Agriculture to help design and
implement the garden. The pur-
pose of the grant is to promote
Pottsboro as a TDA Certified
Retirement Community and to
support water conservation
awareness.
This project is an invest-
ment in rural Texas,
Commissioner Miller contin-
ued. The future of our com-
munities depends on attracting
business and new residents, as
well as maintaining a reliable
water supply. Pottsboro is
working to fulfill both of these
goals.

munities to increase awareness
about the nexus between
healthy outdoor spaces, eco-

maintaining an adequate water
supply for agricultural users,
projects must demonstrate out-
door water conservation tech-
niques.

The Dreaded Pecan Weevil
If you notice how weevil is
spelled, I think it stands for we
are evil. There is nothing more
frustrating than losing a large
portion of your pecan crop to
the pecan weevil. Pecan wee-
vils are a major pest for both
commercial pecan production
and backyard pecan producers
in Comanche and surrounding
counties. Under normal condi-
tions we would expect to see
pecan weevils starting to
emerge in early August. Under
normal soil conditions we
could expect to see 80% of
adult weevils emerge between
August 20 and September 10th.
However, under drought and
hard soil conditions the weevils
will not emerge until we have a
rain event or irrigation to soften
the soil. Orchards with drip irri-
gation can expect normal emer-
gence near the emitters, but
later emergence in the dry areas
of the canopy not reached by
the drip irrigation.
The adult pecan weevil is a

Extension Agriculture Agent
by finding larvae where pecans
are being stored or on cleaning
tables.
Traps are often used to
determine if adults are in the
orchard, and to monitor their
emergence. Adult weevils
damage pecans by feeding
and/or laying eggs in the nuts.
Damage can occur from the
time that weevils emerge from
the ground until shuck split but
the goal should be to prevent
egg lay from taking place. At
least two spray applications,
and maybe more, will be
required to control the weevil.
Typically the first spray will be
August 20 or 22nd, which usu-
ally coincides with when the
earliest maturing nuts of the
early varieties are in the gel
stage at the distal end of the nut.
A second application will be
needed 10 days later.
Commercial pecan orchards
that have a history of pecan
weevil must be treated to con-
trol the weevil. If you are a
homeowner you will have to
decide if you want to try and

Difference

The grape harvest in our
neck of the woods is about to
get started. Watermelons will
not be far behind. Then comes
peanuts and cotton. I have
always loved the harvest time
of year. It is the culmination of
that which has been worked for
all year long.
The Bible has many verses
that refer to farming and life on
the land. I love that. I love that
the first man God created, He
made into a farmer. The farm
analogy is used often in the
Bible. Like in James where it is
written, Behold the farmer
who waits for the precious pro-
duce of the soil. Patience is
being built as the seeds are
planted and watered and
worked. Waiting for that day
when the harvest will be ready.
This is such a good verse for
life. Be patient. Work hard but
be patient. Wait for the best
prize. Dont settle for false gold
in between because you were
tired of waiting. Farmers would
lose so much if they just got
impatient and decided to har-
vest before it was time. There is
a time to plant and a time to
harvest, which is another verse
found in the Bible in the book
of Ecclesiastes. Reminding us
again, there is a time for every-
thing. Be patient
But, what about when the
harvest time comes? What does
the Bible say about that? In
John, Jesus says, Look at the
fields. They are white and
ready to harvest. Sounds like
He is talking to cotton farmers,
doesnt it? What He is saying in
this verse is, like the farmer
cant wait when the harvest
time comes, neither can the

Ronnie graduated from De
Leon High School and Tarleton
State University. While going
to Tarleton, he was a member of
the Tarleton Troubadours and
toured with the USO in 1969.
He began his career in retail at
W. H. Smith Department Store
in De Leon. After leaving De
Leon, he worked at Neiman-
Marcus in Fort Worth and
Hemphill-Wells in San Angelo
as a Buyer. He owned and oper-
ated Alpine Chalet Florist in
San Angelo. Through the years,
he was a successful business
man in the Dallas/Fort Worth
area with the penchant for
design and sales. Of late, he
returned to his beloved De
Leon and recently was instru-
mental in opening three busi-
nesses with his friend and busi-
ness partner Helen Adcock of
Midland: The Soda Shop
Antiques, Nowlin Markets, and
Killibrew
Christopher worked as a
supply organizer for MHMR in
Comanche. He was a Baptist.
Christopher loved listening to
George Jones music and buying
and watching DVDs. He loved
to walk on his treadmill every
day. He loved his family very
much and was extremely close
to them. Christopher will be
deeply missed by all who loved
him.
He is survived by his
mother, Judy D. Killebrew;
brother, Jason Dean Killebrew;
uncles, George Holt and Mit
Chorn; aunts, Ruth Goates and
Linda Chorn; and other extend-
ed family. He was preceded in
death by his father, Jerry Wayne
Killebrew; brother, Jeffrey
Wayne Killebrew; grandmoth-

Back in the old days, every-
one picked cotton by hand.
Even the little bitties were
given a small sack and taught to
work. With hand harvesting,
you needed plenty of laborers.
In Matthew 9, Jesus tell His dis-
ciples, The harvest is plentiful,
but the laborers are few. He
was reminding them, and us
that there is a whole world out
there that is white and ready to
harvest and we all, as
Christians, need to be about the
business of harvest. Of making
sure those in our world are
ready for harvest time. Ready
to be harvested in and made to
count in our Lords work.
My daddy Cletus and the
other Cletus (Yes, there were
two Cletus and they lived with-
in a mile and a half of each
other.) who lived at Union used
to have a joke when my daddy
Cletus would see the other
Cletus pulling a trailer load of
cotton to the gin, Daddy would
hold up three or four fingers
counting the bales in the trailer.
Other Cletus would hold up one
or two fingers trying to count
conservatively. He knew the
preacher Cletus was counting
the tithe! But they were both
ready to work when harvest
came. Harvest of cotton.
Harvest of grapes. Harvest of
souls. Be ready to work for the
harvest is coming. It will make
a difference.

MUSEUM MUSINGS
Greetings from the Comanche
County Historical Museum.
I want to bring last weeks
article up to date: our visitors
from Havana Cuba were Joel
and Lilly Solozano and the cou-
ple that had moved from
Arizona to Comanche, Texas
was Jami Archer and Tina
Meckhem. Joel and Lilly were
a long way from home, and
Amanda, our excellent recep-
tionist said she enjoyed visiting
with all of these people so
much. We thank you for com-
ing in. And, yes, I did go to the
Comanche Room and checked
out the world map, and they
had put in a push pin for Cuba.
One week I will go in and list
all of the countries that we have
touched with our county histo-
ry.
Saturday afternoon, I met
our good friend Wanda Lloyd,
she had some items that she
wanted to talk to me about. So,
Amanda called, I put on my
face, and went out to visit with
her. More on this later.
While I was there, I have
written several articles about
our new Veterans Display that
we are working on. I havent
felt like helping a lot on this
project, but it is quite an under-
taking. Our volunteers have
plans for all of the items and
they are working just about
every day that we are open on
this project.
First of all, when I went
into this new area located in the
old Doll Room display, I saw
first of all, some service men
and womens uniforms. I want
to list some of the items that I
saw. Now, understand that this
is a work in progress, and when
we have finished with this, each
items that I am listing today
may be in a different area. This
said, let me start listing some
items that were standing out.
First of all, a mannequin for
Major General George Fleming
Moore. I have written about
him before, he graduated from
Comanche High School in
1904, and then from Texas
A&M University in 1908.
Next, there are two uniforms
that had belonged to
PREACH HORTON, one a
dress uniform and a pair of
fatigues. The dress uniform has
all of his stripes, his ribbons,
and is complete in every detail,

1902, discharged 12-11-1929.
A Uniform for Cleve Callaway,
WWI, a Uniform, U S Marines,
for PFC Bobby J. Campbell.
Then, a uniform for G.J.
Matthews, Marines, WWII.
Uniform for Dr. Charlie Gray,
WWI, Desert Storm, man-
nequin and Uniform for
Luker.
And, ladies from
Comanche County, Katie Mae
Lane Norcorss, WAC, WWII
and, Rena E. Owen, WWII,
WAC and others.
Also, some framed
pictures and other items.

silk handkerchief, that had been
folded for many years, it said,
the Ship that brought me
home, the USS Agmennon, b.
copy of a French coin, dated
1918, and his uniform and dog-
tags from WWI. An original
picture of him in his WWI uni-
form, we have the original letter
written the day he had this pic-
ture made, to his mother and his
sister. He was training in Fort
Worth, Texas at Camp Bowie.

Chambers, WWII Gustine and
Comanche WW II.
# 7: framed picture taken
the day that we honored Dr.
William C. Calhoun at the
Museum, he is pictured with
other veterans attending that
day.
# 8: framed picture of my
dear cousin William Vernon
Cox U.S. Navy, WWII, he
served on Minesweeper # 356,
and his ship was sweeping for
mines on June 5th at Omaha
Beach, the day before June 6th,
D-Day. He wrote this story,
My Hitch in the Navy.
Let me tell you, this is just
a small selection of items that
we have to display, Along with
all of the above, WWII bunk
Beds, complete with woolen
blanket. Hey, I guess we can
rely of veterans to come in and
check this blanket, will it
bounce a Quarter.
Regarding these uniforms,
most of them have the stripes
sewed on, and their ribbons and
decorations in order. I handled
these jackets and items with
reverence, the same way that
these service men would have
done. I do know that most of
the older uniforms jackets were
made from wool, and I also
know that it took a lot of care of
these items to keep the moths
from eating them up. So, our
appreciation to the wives,
mothers, and families who took
such good care of these items.
Please come in an check
this all out, and you can see just
how many items that have been
loaned and donated to the
Museum. Maybe the last items
that this man or woman would
have worn in their lifetime. We
