COURSE DESCRIPTION
Art 3/4 is a one year intermediate art course designed for further refinement of drawing and
painting skills. Various art making practices and new media will be introduced such as, colored pencil,
mixed media, and more advanced acrylic and watercolor painting techniques. Visual literacy and visual
communication skills will be further developed. In addition to the weekly assignments and projects the stu-
dents will also keep a sketchbook. Historical and contemporary topics will be evident in student work and/
or through class discussion. Prerequisite: Art 1/2 (Recommended: B or better in Art 1/2), Instructor Approval
SUPPLIES GRADING
In addition to assignments, projects, and art journaling you will be given quizzes and

quarterly tests in accordance with all the new techniques and historical information
Sketchbook minimum 8x10
you will learn in the class. Since there are no homework assignments for this course,
maximum 9x12 with at least you are required to use you time efficiently. Lack of class participation or missed
50 pages deadlines will result in a grade reduction.
Drawing/ Sketching Pencil pack Weekly Participation: 20 points possible per week
with sharpener and eraser Smaller projects: 10-25 points
Pencil case or large ziplock bag Larger projects: 50-100 points

Paint palette with lid signment sheet you receive. With the exception of an excused absence, each day late
*Bring supplies to class everyday! will result in 5 points off the assignment.
BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
Students will be expected to follow the school rules as stated in the student handbook, including dress code policies.
