Objectives:
To learn more about the importance of chemical engineer in our industries.
To understand clearly the responsibilities and duties of chemical engineer

The role of a chemical engineer plays in todays world is an important one to put it
quite simply especially in a chemical processing plant. There are many responsibilities
which a chemical engineer must undertake on a daily basis and various specific duties
which must be carried out as well. As a chemical engineering student, it is necessary to
study and determine why the role of chemical engineer is so important that you have to
look yourself whether you are suited for a job of this type in the future.
To understand effectively its tasks or role in a chemical processing plant, let define
first what is chemical engineer is all about.

Chemical Engineer:
Known as process engineers for they are responsible for developing new
industrial processes and designing new process plants, equipment or modifying
existing one.
Known as universal engineers for they involved in transforming one thing to
another.
On a grand scale, chemical engineer is a enabler, someone who makes thing
happen efficiently on a massive, industrial manufacturing scale. They aim to get
the best results at the best cost.
Indeed, a chemical engineer is a person who has a multiple job responsibilities
under this charge. One who works for this must do a lot of research to perform its daily
role or task in a best of their ability so that you will reach the desired outcome. So, to
ensure that everything is going according to plan you must take note the important role
of a chemical engineer in a chemical processing plant.
Role of a Chemical Engineer in a Chemical Processing Plant

Seek new and more efficient processes and materials, or improve or find new
uses for existing materials.
Design methods and equipment to control and contain the process that transform
basic materials into useful products.
Ensure the safe, efficient and environmentally friendly operation of equipment
and test products at various stages of production to check the quality.
Make plans and specification for new account available technology, the cost and
size of equipment and storage space, market needs, transport methods and
disposal of surplus substances.
Review current methods of production for cost efficiency, environmental
friendliness, maximum output and product quality.
Identify faults in a day-to-day operation of process plants (such as oil refining,
steel making, water treatment) and take corrective action.
Prepare reports, feasibility studies and cost analyses of processes.
Provide product process information to sales and marketing personnel or
customers.
Direct and coordinate the work of maintenance and construction trades people or
process plant operators.
Find ways to minimize energy use, minimize waste production, including finding
ways to turn wastes into valuable materials that can be reused.

Therefore, one who is chemical engineer will find that the role which they play is
important and their work needs to be done as possible. If one is interested in pursuing
chemical engineer profession, they will find it valuable to consult the aforementioned
role to see if the job is for them.
