broaden one's horizons
- expand one's range of interests, activities, and knowledge.
We're trying to see what's up there at the very hottest massive stars that are the
most rapidly rotating and see what planets are like around there. All of this
goes to show that Mother Nature is way more imaginative than we are. And
anytime you find something this weird, it broadens your horizons of what
nature can possibly be like.

- to attack a place for a long time using large weapons, bombs etc
- to do something too often or too much, for example criticizing or questioning
someone, or giving too much information

Beijings view that the self-governed island and the mainland are part of a
single Chinese nation.
If you create a blindspot by excluding Taiwan from all of these organizations,
it puts lives at risk, not only in Taiwan but in China, regionally and globally
because germs and communicable diseases do not care one iota about Chinas
claims over Taiwan
