TO LEARN IS TO GAIN

Albert Einstein once said, Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for
tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning." Last August 4, 2017,
we had guests from Panay Bukidnon, a visual artist and a director.

During the morning session, I was not able to listen the opening remarks of
our Principal, Dr. Corazon P. Brown and the message of our Administrator, Engr.
Roberto Neal Sobrejuanite because of some important errands to do. But luckily,
I was able to catch the first talk which is Ang Istorya Sang Binukot by Mommy
Rita ntaro Caballero and Daddy Rodolfo Sandigan Caballero. I really
enjoyed it, most especially that Mommy Rita is such a good speaker and a
comedian. While Daddy Rodolfo is a good chanter and a good lover of Mommy
Rita.

Long time ago, whenever I heard the word Binukot, the first thing that
comes into my mind is, they are mountainous people whose lifestyle is far
different from lowland people. In short, I thought that they were buki. But I
was enlightened because they told us and there are lots of evidences which
justify that they are also professionals.

I also observed that, the love of Binukot people are inevitable. From the
way Daddy Rodolfo looks Mommy Rita to the way Mommy Rita smiles and
laugh to Daddy Rodolfo. It was also such an honor to hold their traditional dress.
I was truly amazed of the story behind those designs and colors. It was also
such a great relief knowing that those type of traditions and practices are still
existing and booming despite of transitional issues and generation disparity.
During the afternoon session, we had the second talk about Visual Arts by
Sir Kristoffer George Brasileno, a Habon Ilonggo: Visual Artist Collective of Iloilo.
He presented his artworks and I was amazed that he is the one who made
those artworks shown on most common public areas. I really idolized his
perseverance in doing those type of masterpieces.

Lastly, the third talk was given by Sir Kyle Fermindoza, a Cinekasimanwa
and Cinemarehiyon Director. It was all about Through the Lenses or
Photography. It was a great satisfaction because he gave us tips on how to
handle well a camera and getting a nice shot with a perfect angle. His
discussion solved the uneasiness of my problems in photography.

I am greatly thankful because we had that activity. Aside from having no

class on that day, I am glad because of experiencing a great talk with great and
popular speakers. The activity moved me to love more Media and Arts because
most of the knowledge and skills that were gained are not only applicable in
academics but it can also be applied in our daily lives.
