Disarmament and International Security (DISC GA First Committee)


Level 3 Committee: Recommended for experienced delegates with total control
over protocol and deep understanding of the topics.
The First Committee of the UN General Assembly deals with disarmament, global challenges and
threats to peace that affect the international community and seeks out solutions to the challenges in the
international security regime. Agreements must be reached concerning the future of nuclear weapons, with
countries such as the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea and Pakistan becoming important players of
nuclear armament. Likewise, agreements regarding the legality of Outer Space Militarization must be made,
as it in an issue the UN must plan for.

World Health Organization (WHO)


Level 2 Committee: Recommended for delegates with some MUN experience or with
good debating abilities.
The World Health Organization goal is to build a better, healthier future for people all over the world.
Working through offices in more than 150 countries, WHO staff work side by side with governments and
other partners to ensure the highest attainable level of health for all people. The topic of human cloning for
research or reproductive purposes is an ongoing debate that must be addressed today more than ever as
technology advances. On the other hand, we must also look at the health problems we face today: women
in developing countries who die due to the poor conditions of hospitals and the lack of regulated assisted
reproduction programs.

Social Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM GA Third Committee)


Level 1 Committee: Recommended for rookie delegates with little to no MUN
experience.
The General Assembly allocates to the Third Committee, agenda items relating to a range of social,
humanitarian affairs and human rights issues that affect people all over the world. It discusses questions
relating to the advancement of women, and the protection of children among other topics. The current
humanitarian crisis in Venezuela has left thousands without job, food or medicines. The International
Community must respond to this crisis as soon as possible and work with the Venezuelan government to
find a solution. The committee will also address the issue of child prostitution and sex tourism, in an effort
to protect children and their rights from this heinous crime.

Security Council (SC)


Level 3+ Committee: Our most advanced committee, recommended only for
experienced delegates. Protocol will be strictly enforced.
The Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security.
The North Korean Nuclear Weapons Program has rapidly become an alarming issue in the international
scenario, as Kim Jong Un continues to ignore warnings and carry out rocket tests to showcase its power.
The Council must come up with a solution and determine if DPRK represents a threat to international
security. Additionally, the council will discuss the situation in Syria, with special attention to the numerous
failed ceasefires and peacekeeper missions, in order to determine what the best long term solution to the
Syrian conflict is.

Topic C:
International Court Of Justice (ICJ)
Level 2 Committee: Recommended for delegates with some MUN experience or
with good debating abilities.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations (UN). It was
established in June 1945 by the Charter of the United Nations and began work in April 1946. In the late
afternoon of 16 January 2017, Ukraine instituted proceedings against the Russian Federation with regard
to alleged violations of the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism of 9
December 1999 and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination
of 21 December 1965. The committee will be in charge of judging both parties and determining what
measures are to be taken.

Le Haut-Commissariat des Nations Unies aux droits de lhomme (HCDH) reprsente lengagement du
monde envers les idaux universels de la dignit humaine. La communaut internationale nous a confi
un mandat unique, celui de promouvoir et protger tous les droits de lhomme. Le bureau lutte activement
pour mettre fin la discrimination en raison de l'orientation sexuelle et de l'identit de genre. Les nations
doivent travailler ensemble pour radiquer le racisme contre la communaut LGBTQ.

United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF)


Level 0 Committee: Open only to primary school students
UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to protect the rights of every child. UNICEF has spent 70
years working to improve the lives of children and their families. The access to clean water is a right that
should be respected worldwide. However, millions of people do not have access to a clean water source,
or must go through several hardships to acquire it. The committee will discuss this problematic as well as
different ways to solve it, ensuring every child can have clean, accessible water.

Topic A: Making Clean Water Available to Everyone

The European Council (EU):


Level 2 Committee: Recommended for delegates with some MUN experience or with
good debating abilities.
The European Council defines the EU's overall political direction and priorities. It is not one of the EU's
legislating institutions, so does not negotiate or adopt EU laws. Instead it sets the EU's policy agenda,
traditionally by adopting 'conclusions' during European Council meetings. With the future exit of Great
Britain from the Union, leaders must prepare and adapt to the repercussions. Likewise, leaders must
decide the Unions future with regards to terrorism, sustainability and economic policy as set forth in the
Bratislava Letter and the Rome Declaration.

International Federation of Football Association (FIFA):


Level 1 Committee: Recommended for beginning delegates with little to no MUN
experience
The Fdration Internationale de Football Association is an association governed by Swiss law founded in
1904 and based in Zurich. It has 211 member associations and its goal, enshrined in its Statutes, is the
constant improvement of football. In this committee, delegates will debate and choose the host country for
the 2026 World Cup, choosing among 5 possible countries while pushing their own countries preference
and agendas.
