Parenting Syllabus 2017/2018
Course Description: This course helps you think though the responsibilities, satisfactions, and stresses of parenthood.
A variety of situations and effective parenting techniques are examined. Emphasis is placed on developing communication
skills that can be applied to present and future relationships. Students learn the importance of interaction with others
with a sense of dignity and respect.

GRADING:
Final course grade will be based on
total points.
To receive full credit, assignments
are due ON THE DUE DATE. A
50% deduction will be applied to
any late assignments.

2) Be Prepared
- on time/in your seat
- have all required materials
- completed any class work
3) Be on task
- pay attention/take notes
- participate by listening &
contributing to discussions

- formal presentations will require
professional attire

TARDIES:
Be in the room when the bell rings!
If you arrive to class without a pass
you will be turned away to E280 to
have your tardy documented and a
pass given to you. Return to class
immediately!
CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:
Getting Started- SEE AGENDA
Answer the Thought of the Day
(TOTD) that is posted.
These will be collected periodically
throughout the semester. Guidelines
will be discussed when the first is
assigned.
Letters to Your Children- This is an
ongoing project that will be
completed throughout the semester.
The last day of every other week you
will be given a topic to write about to
your future children. This will give
you the opportunity to process your
thoughts and emotions about
parenting from a different
perspective. You will be given a
schedule of lab days and locations
and you are expected to be on time
each day.
Materials- You will need to come to
class everyday with: paper, a writing
utensil, and a class folder.

Absences
It is your responsibility to see me on
your own time for missed work. You
MUST make arrangements to make-
up tests.
Cell Phone/Electronic Device Policy-
Inappropriate usage will
result in:
o Warning/Parent
Contact
o Referral
Electronic devices may not
be charged during class time
without permission from the
teacher.
If class time is available at
the end of the period ask
permission before using cell
phones in class.
Electronic devices are not ok
to use during: Direct
instruction time, group work,
etc.
INDEPENDENT work time
cell phones may be used for
MUSIC ONLY.
