A: Word Game - Notes
This is an activity suitable for pairs of students as they can discuss which words
they know and which ones they dont. To complete the activity, students only have
to recognize which words belong to a certain group, rather than knowing precisely
what they mean. You may decide to look at the meanings of words in some details
or prefer instead to move onto the next activity in which some of the words will
reappear.

is worth working through them to help students familiarize themselves with key
words before they read them in the article.

Make cards for your students using the words below. Each word should be on a
different card. Make one set of cards for each group of students.
Divide students into groups. Tell students in turn to take one of the cards. They
mime the action on the card for their group. The group must say what the
person is doing using the present continuous.
e.g. You are smiling. / You are nodding. / You are queue-jumping. etc
Please remind students they are miming the actions - they do not talk and they
are pretending to do the action i.e. they are miming spitting, not actually
