DESCRIPTION
The WK302824/28S-150 Model of high-frequency
DC/DC converters offers ruggedness, reliability and
features required to meet the design challenges of
high reliability market. WK302824/28S-150Model
utilizes hybrid integration technology and all-metal
hermetic enclosure. This Model provides up to 150
watts output power over the full temperature range
of -55 to +105C with up to 85% efficiency.
The WK302824/28S-150 Model small size, low
height, and hermetically sealed metal enclosures
make them ideal for use in
aerospace/aviation and with other high reliability
applications. Units are available with standard
screening, and fully compliant with class E/M
screening.
The input filter circuit is designed to reduce
electro-magnetic interference. The typical input
voltage is 28V, and ranges from 18V to 36V. The
modules can withstand 50V/50ms input surge
voltage. The WK302824/28S-150 Model also
provides some functions such as synchronization
(Sync), inhibit and over current /short circuit
military, protection.

Inhibit Function

The INH pin can be used as an external shut down for applications requiring on/off operation.
A logic pulled low (0 to 0.3V) on INH pin disables the converter.
No connection on INH pin enables the converter.

Over Current/Short Circuit Protection

The WK302824/28S-150 model of DC/DC converters has over current/short circuit protection. When it is
working under load fault condition, the converter will automatically activate the over current/short circuit
protection and restore when the fault is removed.
Caution: The duration of the over current/short circuit must be less than 10s, and the case temperature lower
than 105C, Otherwise, the module may be damaged.

Remote Sensing (Available On Single Output Models Only)

Remote sense allows the user to compensate for voltage drop between the output of the converter and
the point of regulation. The total voltage which may be compensated for is 0.5v in both leads (+) and (-). Mark
the connection to the regulation point within 1.2 meters of the converter output terminal.
If remote sense will be used, connect pin 10 to pin 7 and pin 9 to pin 8 or the output voltage will increase.

The converter will be permanently damaged if the positive remote sense is shorted to ground. Damage may
also result if the output common or positive output is disconnected from the load with the remote sense leads
connected to the load.

Synchronization (Sync)
A synchronization feature is include with the WK302824/28S-150 series that allows the user to match the
switching frequency of the converter to the frequency of the system clock.
WK302824/28S-150 converters are switching regulators with a constant switching frequency of 520kHz. The
external synchronization feature allows the user to adjust the nominal frequency within the range of 600kHz to
800MHz at a level from 4.5V to 5.5V. The synchronization pulse width should be between 15ns and 150ns.
The sync pin should be unconnected when not in use.

Heat Sink Selection

The absolute maximum allowable case temperature is 105C, to select a heat sink for WK302824/28S-150
Series, the following formula for convective heat flow must be used:

NOTES
1) Please properly connect pins of power module to PCB following instructions of parts specification.
2) To prevent pins of power module from being stressed to cause glass insulators cracked and power module leaked, please install
power module with fixed flanges or screws prior to soldering pins of power module.
3) The bottom of power module should be tightly fitting to heat sink. If necessary, thermal washers and shockproof gaskets can be
employed.
4) In any case, bending of pins should be avoided to keep glass insulators from cracking and loss of hermeticity.
