My On the Job Training experience is kind of a really challenging one. We've been through
a lot. But it's all worth it because from it we learn a lot of experiences that we might needed in
hospitality industry.

The housekeeping duties are cleaning the whole room like cleaning the kitchen, beddings,
dusting, moping, vacuming. Make the room look very clean and fresh. While in the food and
beverage department is in the cafe we are helping with the staff to put those foods in the buffet,
cleaning at the pantry and washed all the silverwares in there, if you are a receptionist you are
assigned to open and closed the foor if they were gusest tjat are coming in or coming out. If you
were assigned at the bar you will going to help with your bartender to all the duties in there like
making coffee and washing all the glasses and also to refill those beverages that needed. And if
you are assigned at the dining all you have to do is to refill their drinks, bass out all the plates,
and silverwares even the glasses that they used. And also you have to set up again. When you
were incharged ar the buffet you just have to assist the guest if they wanted you to help getting or
carrying their food. And you just have to look what food is now a little amount so that they will
refill it. While in the banquet, is if you are incharged in the function room you just have to assist
them if they wanted coffee, if they were asking you where the comfort room can find, you have
to help in setting up. Dusting all the water goblet and coffee cups and also making coffee and so
on.

So here we starts, it is our first on the job training experience, at first we found it exciting
for us to be able to work as a trainee in the hotel. But when your finally there, when the ojt starts.
You'll realize what your course is all about. Yes we are aware on the duties and responsibilities
in hospitality industry. But the actual work? It feels really good. It was all really tiring. But when
you heard the guest's appreciation regarding of what you did it's very overwhelming. We
experience how to deal with our co trainee's with different schools. We found it a little bit hard
because they were talking their ilocano, bisaya and such languages tuat we don't know because
all we know is just english and tagalog.

I assigned first at Housekeeping department on my first duty, we are just three trainees
from SLSU and the other three is from ISU. They were talking using their language they were
laughing talking and we from SLSU doesn't even know what they were talking about. At first we
found it hard because we were thinking that they were talking about us. That they taking us for
granted because they know that we don't have any idea what they are talking about. But we still
behave, do our duties. We follow what our room attendant commanding to us. We surprised
because in the othe day and as day passed by our co-trainees and even the room attendants are all
not permanent. Day by day we are incharged into different floors with different co-trainees and
with different room attendant as well. And by that each day was very challenging yet so fun for
us. We're getting to know each other and that was the time that we have our favorite room
attendant, favorite duty. And we are getting closer and closer into the room attendants and
supervisors in housekeeping family in astoria plaza ortigas. They were all sharing their
experiences with us like what challenges they've been through just to be what they are now. Like
the problems thatv theyve been encountered in their job and even with their families. We see a
lot of dedication in them ragarding with their work. And they really inspire us to do our job very
well.

After my duties in housekeeping department, our next departmenr is the Food and Beverage
Department. It is very tiring yet so happy to work at. Because in food and beverage department
this is the time that you really feel that you are in hospitality industry. This is where you deal
with a lot of guests from opening the door until the closing the door for them you have to do the
services that are right for them. You have to make them feel that they were really especial. You
have to entertain them, make them feel that it is their home. Give them what they need. Make
them feel enjoy and give their satisfaction so that they will cone again. And they will tell their
experiences regarding with that hotel in their family and friends.

It was very different from our housekeeping journey. Because here in Food and Beverage
Department we're working with a lot of staffs in our whole duty unlike into the housekeeping
that it is only your RA or just a few of the supervisors sometimes are only the ones that your
working with. Food and Beverage Department is really fun it was really tiring but when you see
the guest's satisfaction it is very overwhelming. When your greeting and smiling at them, and
they also greet back it was really feels great. And hearing the compliments from the staffs from
what you did, even if it's just a simple matter it's still really feels good.

Of course every work has its own problem encountered and mine is when I was in my duty in
housekeeping there is one room that a lot of soiled dishes from Minamisaki and Astoria Cafe so I
all bass out it and put in the pantry near the elevator so that the fnb staff will surely see that when
they did their roundings. But suddenly some of the sliverwares in the room is also I put it
together with the soiled dishes in the pantry. I don't know that it was a room's property. And
when I checked it after all the duties in the kitchen then, I realized that the silverwares in the
drawer is missing. And when I check it at the pantry tha fnb attendant already get it. So what I
did is I tell it to our Room Attendant and we take action on it. And the Room Attendant tells me
that its okay because its part of the job but what important is we learn a lesson from it. While in
the Food and Beverage department I do not have that much problems because I spent more of my
duties in Housekeeping. All in all we learn a lot from our on the job training and its really a
great experience. And were looking forward to our next On The Job Training in 4th year. And
thank you to all of our ojt coordinators for helping us to make our ojt possible.
