COURSE DESCRIPTION
.
This modul is designed as an to design of refrigeration pipe design and heat load , calculation the number of loads,load through the
walls,product heat load,miscellaneous heat load, pumps classification and system design consideration and analysis of pipe networks.
Topics include perform prepare piping material, piping design, stress analysis and piping calculation. Identify pump types and classification,
identify the parameter considered in designing the pump system, design and specify successful pumping systems and calculate head losses in
a pumping system. Identify the parameter considered in pump selection. Identify an analysis parameter for piping network requirement.

STANDARD

PERFORM 3.1 Prepare Piping Material 3.1.1 Listing all the piping material equipment needed includes pipe,
PIPING DESIGN. fittings, flanges, gaskets, bolting, valves and pipe supports.
3.1.2 Knowing how to cut the piping by using piping cutter.

3.1.3 Cut the pipe in accordance with the prescribed size.

3.1.4 Materials that are used for manufacturing pipes include;


Carbon Steel (CS), Low Temperature Service Carbon Steel
(LTCS), Stainless Steel (SS), Non Ferrous Metals (Inconel,
Incoloy, Cupro-nickel, etc.), Non Metallic (GRE, PVC, HDPE,
tempered glass, etc.)

3.2 Piping system 3.2.1 Selecting and write piping system use formulas and chart.

3.2.2 Selecting and write pipes sizes use formulas and chart.

3.2.3 Selecting and write layout of piping system use chart.

3.2.4 Using and plotting refrigerant liquid line capacities by the


chart.

3.2.6 Write and identify the suction line problems.

3.4.2 Calculate the piping stress analysis which address the static and
dynamic loading resulting from the effects of gravity,
temperature changes, internal and external pressures, changes
in fluid flow rate and seismic activity.
3.5 Piping calculation 3.5.1 Calculate the pipe area.
3.5.2 Calculate the pipe pressure drop.
3.5.3 Calculate the pipe velocity
3.5.4 Calculate the pipe head loss.

CODE NAME : MPP 503

CONTENT STANDARD LEARNING STANDARD PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

PUMP SELECTION AND 4.1 Identify pump types and 4.1.1 List pump classification include Centrifugal Pumps,
ANALYSIS OF PIPE classification. Rotary Pumps and Positive Displacement Pumps.

4.1.3 Write and calculate compressor capacities by the
formulas.
4.1.4 Write and calculate volumetric efficiency by formulas.

4.2 Identify the parameter considered in 4.2.1 List the parameters considered include head, capacity
designing the pump system. and nature of liquid handled, piping, drives and
economics.

4.3 Design and specify successful 4.3.1 Design and specify successful pumping systems
