Fire Susceptibility: A Fire Risk Comparison in Crater Lake Nation Park and the Umpqua National Forest
with Ezra Zeitler (GEOG & ANTHRO), UWEC, Fall 2014.
Project focused on two areas of frequent wildfires (Crater Lake National Park and Umpqua National Forest) that encounter varying
resultsencouragement of new growth that spurs diverse and healthy ecosystems, but also destruction of millions of dollars of lumber
crop and manmade structures. Study identifies factors (vegetation type, weather patterns, hill slope, elevation, aspect, insect
destruction and fuel availability) that support a fire susceptibly model, one that encompasses predictive measures and, hence, enhances
fire prevention planning.

Combining Unmanned Aerial Systems with Geospatial Concepts and Technology with Joseph Hupy (GEOG &
ANTHRO), UWEC, 2014-2016.
Project focuses on new and innovative applications of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), in particular, those that support growing
demands in geospatial sciences. UAS platforms employ various digital sensors and cameras, a circumstance that prompts their use in
data collection in conjunction with geographic information systems (GIS).
