Social Studies 6
Homework will vary depending on the unit. It is used to reinforce classroom learning, practice skills, and
prepare for the next lesson. It is always better to attempt the questions than to skip the assignment.

**Effort grade
Being on time, coming prepared for class, and actively participating in classroom discussions and
activities are all part of the effort grade. Furthermore, when an assignment is late, they will lose their
effort points for the day (3pts/day).

LATE WORK
If a student is absent on the day an assignment is due, he or she may turn in the
assignment at the start of the next class period. For every day absent, one additional day
will be added to the due date.
If a student does not complete an assignment, he or she will lose 25% of the possible
points the first day, and 50% the second day. No work will be accepted three days late.
Students who do not turn in homework will be assigned to a lunchtime study hall to
complete the assignment.
CLASSROOM RULES
All existing CECFC rules and policies will apply and be enforced in this class. The
following rules are included for our class in particular.

RESPECT POLICY
In social studies, we will be learning about many different cultures from around the
world. Each student will be expected to respect these cultures and the learning of other
students. Disrespectful statements or actions will have consequences and require a
meeting with the teacher.
PLAIGERISM
All students enrolled in CECFC are expected to conform to the accepted standards of
academic honesty. Cheating and plagiarism are considered breaches of these standards
and will be dealt with swiftly, firmly, and discretely by the instructor and Dean of
Academics.
Whenever there is clear evidence indicating that a violation has occurred, the instructor
will promptly notify and present the material(s) to the Academic Dean who will verify
that a violation has taken place. If the findings substantiate that a violation has
occurred, then one of the following actions will be taken:
First time documented violations will be treated as a learning incident and the student will be
given the opportunity to continue with their studies. However, the consequences of the students
action will be a score of 0 given for that assignment in which the violation occurs and the
placement of an Academic Standards Violation letter in the students file.
A second violation, whether in that specific course or any other course, will result in an F for
the course. The student will also receive another Academic Standards Violation letter noting that
a third breach of standards will result in more significant consequences with the possibility of
dismissal from the school. This letter will be placed in the students file.

The student may appeal any decision, in writing, to the CECFC Leadership Team.
